Job Description

  • 5 Year Senior Contract
  • Lead the strategic student recruitment function for the University
  • Wallumattagal Campus, North Ryde

Since its inception in 1964, Macquarie University has been a pioneer in the area of domestic and international student recruitment. Whether that has been in widening access to domestic students through to venturing into foreign markets ahead of other Australian universities, Macquarie University has sought leaders who are thinking ahead, challenging convention, and rethinking what is possible.

As the external landscape continues to change, we are looking to appoint the next the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Future Students at Macquarie University. Reporting to the Deputy Vice Chancellor (People and Operations), we are looking for someone who will play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing one of the University's most critical strategic priorities: sustainable growth through attracting, recruiting and retaining exceptional students from Australia and around the world.

This is more than a leadership position tasked with running a student recruitment team. It is also a thought-leadership role to develop understanding of new market and product opportunities and working with the Deputy Vice Chancellor (People & Operations) to bring these to fruition through our faculties, College, and across the University. Success in this role has significant influence on the University's future direction, reputation and revenue.

We are seeking a leader who can combine bold strategic thinking and sharp commercial acumen with disciplined execution. Someone who can see around corners, use data and insight to inform decisions, lead significant teams and help the institution reimagine how we engage future students across domestic, international, onshore and offshore markets. The opportunity is substantial. So too is the expectation to think differently, challenge assumptions and build compelling pathways for growth.

What makes Macquarie distinctive is our entrepreneurial culture and our commitment to work together: that is embodied in our motto of “you to the power of us”. Our faculties, professional teams and senior leaders work together with agents and partners both across Australia and around the world to turn strong ideas into action. We value evidence, intellectual rigour and partnership, focused implementation, and we back people who bring ambition, curiosity and the courage to lead change.

This is an opportunity to join a university with a proud international heritage, a strong global outlook and the appetite to be truly leading edge. For the right leader, it is a chance to help shape the next chapter of Macquarie University's success.
