Mercy Hospital’s 5BOrthopaedicUnit cares for plannedorthopaedicpost-op surgical patients (hip and knee replacements, spine, and neck surgeries),orthopaedicinjuries (falls and car accidents), and trauma patients thatdon’trequire critical care or are ready to come out of the ICU (gunshots, wounds, stabbings, car accidents, and traumatic falls). This collaborative unit works withOrthopaedicSurgeons, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Physical Therapists, OccupationalTherapistsand the trauma team. 5B is known for their community outreach for various donation drives throughout the year and their phenomenal caregiver retention, as there are alot of experienced caregivers who have been here for 8+ years.
By joining the 5Bteam as an RN, you willassistfellow caregivers in delivering exceptional care, frominitialintroduction to final send-off. In this role, you will interact directly with patients,familiesand visitors, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and supply healthcare education as needed. Additionally, the Cleveland Clinic system provides nurses with many professional development resources, including furthering education and online/in-person courses to enhance your skills
APRNcaregiver in this positionworksvariable nights and hours, includingweekends and holidays.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide direct nursing care.
Implement andmonitorpatient care plans.
Monitor,recordand communicate patients’ conditions.
Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
Assess andcoordinatepatients’ discharge needs.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing(Diploma,ADNor BSN program)
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)or American Red Cross
Externalapplicantstwo years of recent related nursing experience
Internal applicantswith less than two years’ experience, but post orientation/90-day probationary period, could be considered with the Chief Nursing Officer level review and approval
Will consider military RN experience
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Bachelor’sofScience inNursing (BSN)
