
Registered Nurse - SANE
PRN Shift Varies
A Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner is a Registered Nurse with advanced education.
Performs comprehensive forensic examination of all reported assault patients to include Domestic Violence, Child Abuse, Elder Abuse etc. of patients aged 14 years and older.
A nurse examiner conducts the examination, collects, and preserves evidence, and testifies in legal proceedings.
The SANE nurse is knowledgeable in the nursing process and its application to the Forensic Nursing Specialty.
A thorough and detailed exam is performed while restoring dignity to the patient, by providing compassionate and comprehensive care, teaching, and information for follow up care.
Requirements:
Associate of Science in Nursing (ADN) degree from an accredited institution.
Current unrestricted licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Kentucky required.
One year of relevant job-related experience required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire.
SANE license required in the state of Kentucky; this includes completing the SANE class and 60 hours of training to be completed within 6 months of course.
Mandatory nonviolent crisis prevention training to be completed prior to end of orientation period and maintained annually.
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum of two years clinical experience in any of the following areas: Emergency, Intensive Care, Pediatric, Maternal Child, Psychiatric and/or Forensic Nursing.
Preferred experience in Domestic Violence training.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from an accredited institution.
