Job Description

Advanced Houston Specialty Hospital is looking for a PRN Physical Therapy Assistant to join our team of health care professionals in a newly renovated facility at 205 Hollow Tree Lane, Spring, TX. Join our team and help us provide top-tier medical and security services to a justice involved population!

Rate: $38 - $40/hr DOE

The Physical Therapy Assistant provides rehabilitative services under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. The PTA assists in implementing individualized treatment programs for incarcerated individuals with physical impairments, injuries, or functional limitations. This role promotes recovery, functional independence, and quality of life while adhering to security, safety, and correctional healthcare standards.

Essential Functions:

  1. Administer therapeutic exercises, gait training, balance activities, and other interventions as outlined in the treatment plan by the supervising PT.
  2. Instruct and motivate patients in safe performance of prescribed activities to restore strength, mobility, and functional skills.
  3. Monitor and document patient progress, tolerance, and response to interventions.
  4. Report changes in patient condition to the supervising Physical Therapist for treatment plan adjustments.
  5. Educate patients on safe movement patterns, proper body mechanics, and injury prevention techniques.
  6. Assist in preparing treatment areas and equipment, ensuring safety, cleanliness, and compliance with infection control protocols.
  7. Collaborate with correctional healthcare staff to coordinate patient care and maintain security procedures.
  8. Maintain accurate, timely documentation in medical records per facility and regulatory standards.
  9. Support staff training initiatives on patient mobility, safety, and injury prevention as needed.

It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her scope of work as determined by management.

Education and Experience Requirements:

High school diploma or GED required. Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program. One (1) year physical therapist assistant experience in a hospital or correctional healthcare environment preferred.

Required certification and licensure as follows: Current Texas licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant., Basic Life Support, and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support.

Post Hire Requirements:

Must successfully complete annual requirements to include maintaining licenses, certifications, and passing an annual background check.
