Job Title:

Internal Sales Desk Manager, Vice President

Job Description:

Blackstone is seeking a mid-career professional to lead the Japan Internal Sales Desk (“Internal Sales Desk Manager”) and support the continued growth of the Private Wealth platform in Japan. This is a player-coach role that combines responsibility for managing and developing the junior Internal Sales professionals as well as conducting centralized cross regional branch/ advisor engagements together with the broader Sales & Promotion and Home Office Client Coverage team.

The individual will be responsible for ensuring development of junior Internal Sales professionals, improving the quality and consistency of sales support, and helping prepare high-performing team members for future client-facing roles within the Sales & Promotion team.

The role is intended to serve as an important development step within the Japan Private Wealth sales organization. It offers an opportunity for an experienced professional to broaden their responsibilities across the Japan Private Wealth business by leading branch engagements from the internal seat, while developing deeper engagement with increasingly senior distributor stakeholders over time.

The individual will help ensure that market feedback and insights from distributor and advisor interactions are captured, shared, and translated into more focused sales activities. The individual is also expected to lead coordinated cross regional branch engagement efforts such as post-event activation and launch initiatives with direct interaction with branch managers and advisors. By combining team leadership, talent development, sales support, and branch/ advisor engagement responsibilities, the Internal Sales Desk Manager will help strengthen the long-term sales capabilities of the Japan Private Wealth business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Japan Internal Sales Desk function, including team leadership, prioritization of activities, performance standards, and day-to-day coordination with the broader Sales & Promotion as well as Home Office Client Coverage team.
  • Develop and mentor junior Internal Sales professionals through structured coaching, training, and career development initiatives, helping build a strong pipeline of future sales talent.
  • Partner closely with client-facing Sales & Promotion professionals to enhance sales effectiveness through advisor support, campaign execution, market intelligence, follow-up activities, and the development of scalable sales processes and best practices.
  • Identify market trends, distributor feedback, and emerging opportunities, and translate those insights into actionable sales initiatives and business priorities.
  • Maintain selected client-facing responsibilities and contribute directly to distributor branch and advisor engagement, training programs, and business development initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Relevant local financial product sales licenses, or the ability to obtain such licenses upon joining the firm.
  • 8+ years of experience within financial services, wealth management, asset management, or related industries.
  • Deep knowledge and strong interest in capital markets, portfolio construction, and alternative investments.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage sophisticated financial professionals.
  • Proven ability to build relationships, manage priorities, and operate effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience managing or mentoring junior professionals.
  • Native-level Japanese language proficiency and professional-level English communication skills.

The duties and responsibilities described here are not exhaustive and additional assignments, duties, or responsibilities may be required of this position. Assignments, duties, and responsibilities may be changed at any time, with or without notice, by Blackstone in its sole discretion.
