Job Description
The Private Swim Instructor at The Plateau Club is responsible for providing high-quality, individualized swim instruction in a safe, supportive, and engaging environment. This role requires a passion for teaching, strong communication skills, and the ability to adapt lessons to swimmers of all ages and skill levels. The instructor serves as a positive role model while helping members build confidence and improve their swimming abilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Plan and deliver structured private and semi-private swim lessons based on individual swimmer needs and goals.
• Provide in-water and deck instruction to support skill development and proper technique.
• Adapt teaching methods to accommodate varying ages, abilities, and learning styles.
• Ensure the safety and constant supervision of all participants during lessons.
• Act as a lifeguard during assigned lesson times, maintaining a safe aquatic environment.
• Communicate effectively with members regarding swimmer progress, goals, and recommendations.
• Respond to member questions and requests in a timely and professional manner.
• Coordinate lesson scheduling as assigned by the Recreation Center Manager.
• Maintain accurate records of lesson participation and swimmer progress when required.
• Provide excellent customer service in a courteous and professional manner.
• Share accurate information about aquatics programs and other club offerings with members.
• Other tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
• Previous swim instruction experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of swim techniques and stroke development.
• Current Lifeguard, CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, based on member demand.

• Lift, reach, bend, twist, push, pull, squat, grasp and use arm-hand coordination on a consistent basis
• Have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
• May include outdoor work and exposure to related weather conditions to include but not limited to: sunshine, wind, rain, warm & cool temperatures.
COMPENSATION DETAILS:
• Offered rate of pay range: $17.13 - $18.00 per hour
• Eligible for lesson income in addition to regular hourly rate
• Eligible for overtime

FOR SEASONAL TEAM MEMBERS:
Seasonal team members are hired for the summer season, and work fluctuating amounts of hours per week, including occasional overtime. Hours are not guaranteed, and hours worked during the summer (busy season) are not an indication of hours available year-round.
Seasonal employment is temporary work; therefore, terminated at the end of the busy season. Team Members in good standing are encouraged to return the following year or apply for a year-round position if available.
