Private Equity Tech Associate

About the Role

The Associate will join a Boston based private equity firm focused on small and mid-size businesses in the digital infrastructure and technology services sectors. For more than three decades they have invested $2.4 billion of capital in over 140 companies and are currently investing in their 8th fund. Their strategy is straightforward: invest in promising companies within dynamic industries. They approach opportunities with a “build it” mindset, applying creative structuring and empowering strong leaders to accelerate growth, optimize operations, and build long-term value.

Key Responsibilities

The Associate will join senior investment professionals in investment sourcing, due diligence, and portfolio management functions of the firm. Specific responsibilities include:

• Financial analysis – Create financial models to analyze cash flows, investment returns, and enterprise values for new investment opportunities and existing portfolio companies
• Investment approval materials – Prepare memos and other approval materials for the Investment Committee
• Industry research – Conduct research on market size, growth prospects, demand drivers, key competitors, etc.
• Third party diligence – Facilitate diligence activities with third-party partners (e.g., senior lenders, accountants, attorneys, IT consultants, strategy consultants)
• Portfolio management – Assist with ongoing monitoring and ad hoc strategic projects for portfolio companies

Candidate qualifications:

• Superior analytical and financial skills
• 2–3 years of experience in investment banking, management consulting, or a related analytical role
• A strong academic record,
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team,
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Intellectual curiosity and rigorous attention to detail are required.
• Prior experience in private or public equity investing or related fields is preferred.
• Exposure to the digital infrastructure and/or IT Services industries is preferred.
