The British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (BCI) is currently seeking Private Debt Co-ops/Interns for the Fall 2026 work term (September to December) to provide support across a range of credit investment types, including senior and subordinated debt.

The Private Debt Co-op/Intern will work within our Capital Markets & Credit Investments department. This is a great opportunity for you to learn and apply your knowledge to support the development and implementation of BCI’s Principal Credit Fund, by assisting in the due diligence of new investments, ongoing monitoring of existing investments, and other ad-hoc projects.
WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH
The Private Debt Team specializes in loans to principally private companies and other specialized credit strategies. Investments primarily consist of direct senior and subordinated debt or co-investments through our partners across a variety of industries in North America, Europe and APAC.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
Working under the supervision of members of the Private Debt team to assist with various projects
Work as an integrated part of the Private Debt team supporting the diligence of prospective investments
Assist the Private Debt team in executing new investment opportunities (including comprehensive written reports and financial modeling)
Monitor portfolio investments identifying relevant risks
Ad-hoc projects and tasks as assigned by the team
REQUIRED SKILLS
Students in an undergraduate program with a preference for those in Business (Finance or Accounting) or Economics
Passion for investing, drive to continually learn about financial markets, and an interest in credit markets
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy, excellent product quality, and attention to detail
A high level of professionalism and interpersonal skills
Strong research skills combined with analytical and critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
A fundamental knowledge of finance, accounting, business, and investment-related disciplines
Experience in developing financial models is considered an asset
High level of proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook; Bloomberg and S&P Capital IQ/Market Intelligence experience is an asset

Competitive pay: $2,745.00 gross bi-weekly + vacation leave paid based on 6% of salary
Travel: if coming to Victoria for this work term, BCI will provide a fixed-rate travel allowance based on your location
