What will you be doing?

We’re seeking a talented individual to join our Private Client Tax team in either Newcastle or Southampton, which is responsible for managing the compliance and tax advice process for a client allocation. You will be responsible for supervising tax staff , assisting with client work and deal with technical and administrative issues.

As an Assistant Manager, your responsibilities will include among others

  • Preparing tax returns and in some cases review tax returns
  • Managing HMRC enquiries and draft or review HMRC correspondence
  • Responsible for compliance work on clients and monitor time limits and elections for compliance portfolio
  • Preparing complex tax computations and supervise preparation of simple tax computations
  • Preparing reports for clients in relation ad hoc advisory matters
  • Responsible for billing and monitoring budgets
  • Ensuring relevant client deadlines are met and S&W procedures are adhered to
  • Assisting the partners with fee quotes and growing the business

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should have

  • ACA and/or CTA qualification
  • Knowledge of Private Client and Partnership Tax and some planning experience
  • Strong IT skills including practical knowledge of Microsoft Office packages; Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Good written communication skills are necessary to draft correspondence with clients and HMRC to explain technical issues in an easily understandable manner.
  • Good inter-personal skills to be able to liaise with clients and other staff members

  • Some tax advisory experience
  • Evidence of managing a small client portfolio
