As the Ministry of Forestry and Parks we are responsible for fostering Alberta’s environmentally responsible forest management practices, including management of wildfires. We preserve our provincial parks for the recreation and enjoyment of Albertans. As well as enabling access to public lands for recreational and commercial purposes while prioritizing conservation. Forestry and Parks also manage public lands and balances sustainable rangelands and grazing leases for Alberta producers.

As a Priority Issues Coordinator, you’ll play a critical role in delivering on departmental mandates while helping shape informed, strategic responses to emerging priorities.
The Priority Issues Coordinator (PIC) is a central pillar in supporting the Forestry Division’s Executive Advisor and Leadership Team. This role ensures that key division initiatives, action requests, and issues are tracked, coordinated, and resolved efficiently. Acting as a liaison across executive leadership, branch teams, and external stakeholders, the PIC ensures timely issue management, accurate reporting, and consistent communication. This is a highly visible and impactful role that contributes directly to risk management and the successful delivery of corporate and operational priorities.

Education and Experience:
University graduation in a related field, such as public administration plus 4 years progressively responsible related experience; or equivalent as described below.
Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
1 year of experience for 1 year of education.

This is a full-time, temporary opportunity located in Edmonton. This position works Monday to Friday, 8:15AM - 4:30PM, 36.25 hours a week. The incumbent may be requested to work overtime, evening and weekends due to the emergency nature of wildfires.
Travel within the area and throughout the province may be required as part of your responsibilities to coordinate with Ministry staff and colleagues, other government departments, clients, and other external stakeholders.
Candidates may be asked to complete a written assignment as a part of the interview process.
