Job Description

TITLE: Press Operator A

POSITION OBJECTIVE: The Press Operator in the Printing Department is primarily responsible for the full operation of a single press within the department and reports directly to the Shift Supervisor or Lead Operator. The Technician performs the assigned responsibilities in a timely manner to maintain product run rate and quality while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Requires the ability to perform mathematical functions consistently and accurately
• Requires the ability to solve practical problems and be self-directed within the framework of the essential duties and responsibilities.
• Requires the ability to know when to ask for assistance when a problem arises that will affect the department performance and product quality
• Ability to work varied shifts depending on organizational requirements and customer commitments
• Requires the ability to solve practical equipment and/or product problems and be self-directed within the framework of the essential duties and responsibilities
• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred
• Previous experience with a plastic film/bag manufacturer in the operation of a wide-web press preferred
• Ensure consistent, dependable attendance and demonstrate a willingness to accommodate non-standard work hours as necessary.
• Capable of effectively managing job-related stress and fostering productive workplace interactions.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Performs set-ups on assigned press
• Performs set-up & uses web guide
• Identifies press issues & stops when necessary
• Matches & maintains proper color
• Identifies press issues & stops for bad print
• Identifies poor print & corrects it
• Sets print and adjusts register
• Adjusts treatment on the press
• Performs minor press troubleshooting
• Understands and executes all job card instructions
• Plans daily work with the Shift Supervisor or Lead Operator
• Reports and & all issues to the Lead Operator
• Maintains a clean & safe work area
• Adheres to and complies with all Company safety policies & procedures
• Adheres to and complies with all quality control procedures
• Adheres to and complies with all Company & department scrap control procedures
• Assists the management team in maintaining quality system effectiveness
• Performs all other duties as assigned

WORK ENVIRONMENT CONDITIONS SUBJECTED TO IN THIS POSITION:
• While performing the duties of this job, employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel material. Requires the ability to see/hear warning alarms. This job requires walking, standing, stooping, bending and twisting, and kneeling.
• The work environment described here is representative of those an employee would encounter on a daily basis while performing the job functions.
• This position works a 12/hour shift. The schedule includes day and night work as well as weekends and holidays. It can also include overtime when needed.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to extreme heat and high noise levels. Working on open air secured floor may be required.
