Job Description

PRINTER ASSISTANT

Location: Port Elizabeth
Industry: Manufacturing / Packaging / Production

A leading manufacturing organisation is seeking motivated and detail-oriented Printer Assistants to join its production team within a fast-paced corrugated packaging environment.

This role is ideal for individuals with exposure to printing and finishing operations who are eager to grow their skills within a production-driven manufacturing environment.

THE ROLE

You will be responsible for supporting printing machine operations, maintaining production quality standards, and assisting with efficient machine performance within the production department.

The role requires strong attention to detail, reliability, teamwork, and the ability to operate effectively within a shift-based manufacturing environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Machine Operation Support


  • Assisting machine operators with setup and operation of printing equipment

  • Supporting machine preparation using best operating practices

  • Assisting during production runs to ensure maximum productivity and efficiency

  • Operating machinery at an acceptable competency level when required

Production Quality & Monitoring


  • Monitoring print quality and identifying deviations during production

  • Supporting colour matching and ink viscosity control processes

  • Ensuring production standards and quality requirements are maintained at all times

  • Escalating quality concerns to operators or supervisors promptly

Production & Operational Support


  • Assisting with production system feedback and operational processes

  • Supporting machine availability and operational efficiency initiatives

  • Carrying out instructions from supervisors and production leadership

  • Contributing to continuous improvement within the department

Housekeeping, Safety & Compliance


  • Maintaining high housekeeping standards within the production area

  • Ensuring adherence to ISO procedures and operational standards

  • Supporting safe working practices within the manufacturing environment

  • Promoting operational discipline and accountability

Teamwork & Collaboration


  • Supporting and assisting machine crews during production activities

  • Contributing positively to team productivity and operational performance

  • Demonstrating reliability, responsibility, and proactive participation within the team

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Key Requirements


  • Grade 12 / Matric

  • Qualification in Corrugated Board Printing and Finishing Machine Minding

  • Computer literacy essential

  • Understanding of:

    • Ink viscosity

    • Colour matching

    • Printing production processes

  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment

  • Strong attention to detail and quality focus

  • Willingness to work:

    • Shifts

    • Overtime when required
