Printed Circuit Board Layout Design Engineer (m/f/d)

As a PCB Layout Design Engineer at OHB, you will play a key role in the development of high-performance electronic units for satellites. Your work will directly contribute to missions that process high-resolution image data, control precision mechanisms, and operate reliably in the harsh environment of space.
We are looking for an experienced engineer who combines deep technical expertise with a strong sense of ownership and quality. You will work in a multidisciplinary, international team of passionate professionals who are driven by technical excellence and the ambition to deliver reliable solutions for space applications.

Your Tasks

• Design complex, high-performance PCB layouts based on specifications from circuit designers
• Define, maintain, and apply PCB design rules in accordance with IPC and ECSS standards
• Create and maintain schematic diagrams in close collaboration with hardware developers
• Generate complete manufacturing documentation, including drawings, bills of materials, and production data
• Develop and manage footprint libraries and component master data in line with internal design guidelines and manufacturing processes
• Review externally developed layouts and coordinate with external layout service providers
• Perform signal integrity and power integrity simulations using tools such as HyperLynx

Your Qualifications

• University degree in electrical engineering, microsystems engineering, or a comparable field
• Several years of hands-on experience in designing complex, high-density PCB layouts using Siemens PADS Professional or Xpedition
• Strong experience with high-speed, HDI, power electronics, mixed-signal, RF (up to several GHz), and high-voltage designs
• Solid understanding of signal integrity, power integrity, and EMC considerations in PCB layout
• Experience in routing differential pairs, delay matching, and managing return paths for high-speed signals
• Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken)

Nice to have

• Practical experience with PCB layout for space applications according to ECSS-Q-ST-70-12.
• Experience with signal integrity analysis tools (e.g., HyperLynx or equivalent).
• Programming skills in one or more languages such as Python, C/C++, Tcl, etc.
