We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Print Services Specialist to join our team. As a Print Services Specialist, you will play a crucial role in managing the end-to-end print process, ensuring the highest standards of quality, accuracy, and efficiency.

About this job:

Print Production Management

  • Oversee the entire print production process, from prepress to finishing, ensuring adherence to quality standards and project timelines
  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to understand print requirements and specifications
  • Support implementation of new technology for process execution and/or analysis

Technical Expertise

  • Utilize advanced knowledge of various printing technologies, including Xerox digital press technology, to recommend optimal solutions for each project
  • Operate large format printer and production support
  • Operate print finishing machines including Polar programmable cutter and Horizon folder
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to printing equipment and processes
  • Unload supplies, ensuring items are not compromised and stored in correct location
  • Prepare print-ready and accessible PDFs for forms (basic layout cleanup, pagination, export settings, file naming and version control)
  • Mail merge letters and envelopes

Quality Control

  • Implement rigorous quality control measures to guarantee the accuracy and consistency of printed materials
  • Conduct regular inspections of printed products to identify and address any defects or deviations from specifications
  • Preflight and quality checks on incoming files before print/production (bleeds, margins, fonts, image resolution, correct logos and spelling)

Material Selection

  • Advise clients on paper, ink, and finishing options to achieve the desired visual and tactile qualities for their print projects
  • Stay informed about industry trends and advancements in printing materials and technologies
  • Meet with vendors to source and manage supply inventory. Responsible for controlling the inventory and reordering supplies

Project Coordination

  • Work closely with project managers, graphic designers, and clients to ensure seamless coordination and communication throughout the print production lifecycle
  • Demonstrate strong multi-tasking skills by efficiently running multiple print jobs at once, often under tight deadlines. Ability to remain organized and focused when handling several projects simultaneously is essential

Cost Estimation

  • Provide accurate cost estimates for print projects, considering materials, labor, and equipment costs
  • Optimize cost-efficiency without compromising print quality
  • Collaborate with Communications Director and creative team in brainstorming and developing creative strategies

  • High School Diploma or equivalent level of education required
  • Communications, Print and Graphic Media Technology, Graphic Communications Management, or related degree path preferred
  • Proven experience in print production and a solid understanding of various printing processes
  • Basic computer experience, including knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
  • Proficiency in using printing software and equipment
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality products
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for client interactions
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Knowledge of design software (Adobe Creative Pro) and prepress processes is a plus
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion
  • Basic proficiency with hand tools (e.g., levels, rulers, applicators, screwdrivers, drills, manual pen cutters, squeegee tools) is required. Hands-on tasks such as simple line cuts and tool-based applications are a regular part of the role. Training will be provided as needed, but comfort with these tools is expected
  • Willingness to participate in hands-on training sessions for print finishing and tool use is required
  • A valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record may be required
  • Previous experience in a similar role within the printing industry is highly desirable, however, willing to train the right candidate with wiliness and ability to learn new processes
  • Forklift Certification or ability to obtain is required (NorthWestern Energy will provide training, if necessary)
  • Get Into Energy - Energy Industry Fundamental 2.0 certification is a plus (click the link to certify at no cost)
