Job Description

The Print Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of various printing and finishing equipment, often managing multiple machines simultaneously. This position requires a strong understanding of job priorities, service level agreements (SLAs), and unique requirements for each print request. Candidates must be able to work independently with minimal supervision but can also work effectively within a team when needed.

Schedule: Sunday-Friday 9:45pm-6:00am with a 15% shift differential

  • Operate in a safe and efficient manner the various print and finishing equipment to produce company forms, documents, and brochures according to the documented requirements.
  • Consistently meet or exceed customer service expectations outlined in each print request.
  • Utilize learned skills on Print and finishing equipment to provide coverage as needed.
  • Coordinate an efficient workflow with coworkers and the Management team
  • Maintain production and quality control standards.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on equipment.
  • Troubleshoot issues as needed, contacting the Postal & Print Technical Lead(s) and service technicians when necessary.
  • Communicate any problems or malfunctions, along with their impact on production, to the Supervisor and Postal & Print Technical Lead(s).
  • Monitor output to ensure proper setup, readability, formatting, and barcode accuracy in alignment with NJM’s standards and requirements.
  • Perform quality spot checks during production to maintain accuracy throughout the entire job.
  • Communicate deficiencies with print materials to Management, document any concerns and record equipment malfunctions in the equipment logs.
  • Ensure that all jobs are completed timely and in order of Service Level Agreement (SLA) as assigned.
  • Understand the impact on compliance regulations as it relates to Service Level Agreements.
  • Communicate with Management, the Postal & Print Technical Lead(s) and the Customer Service Workflow Coordinator when jobs may not be completed in a timeframe which meets Service Level Agreements.
  • Create a job production ticket for every print production job and update each ticket to reflect the current status.
  • Communicate issues about equipment or workflow through end-of-shift emails to the team.
  • Maintain sufficient inventory of materials and supplies to minimize workflow interruptions.
  • Monitor upcoming print requests and anticipate required materials that will be needed to fill the request.
  • Communicate in advance the materials needed to the Customer Service Workflow Coordinator.
  • Organize and stock shelves with parts and supplies in the appropriate locations to be easily identified by all team members.
  • Keep work area neat and orderly.

Required Qualifications: Knowledge, skills & abilities, experience, minimum & desired education, certification and/or license requirements.

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrates ability to handle multiple deadlines and manage time effectively
  • Demonstrates ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to recognize how actions can affect customers
  • Capable of performing repetitive hand movements
  • Capable of pushing/pulling loaded carts of printed materials
  • Capable of handling materials and boxes of up to 50 pounds
  • Capable of standing for prolonged periods of time
  • Willingness or ability to train others
  • Knowledge with Microsoft Office Products
  • Self-starter

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior machine operator experience preferred
  • Prior print experience a plus

Compensation: Salary is commensurate with experience and credentials.

Pay Range: $46,950-$59,150
