The Principal/Staff Corporate Applications Engineer (CAE) is a Microchip applications engineer providing technical support to customers, clients, distributors, and representatives. The CAE is knowledgeable and skilled in Microchip products and solutions to guide the customer on selecting, using, and troubleshooting products which best fit their requirements. The CAE enables customer self-sufficiency by writing knowledge base articles, application notes, user’s guide, and developing and delivering training. This person will work closely with Microchip Field Application Engineers (FAE), Sales and Marketing teams to provide pre- and post-sales support and solutions to customers. The CAE is passionate about making customers succeed in the marketplace.

This CAE will focus on Microchip’s Microcontroller, FPGA and Wired Networking products and would be required to:

  • Provide technical support to Microchip customers.
  • Debug and resolve customer-reported issues related to devices, development tools, software code, and reference solutions.
  • Develop and deliver technical training to Microchip customers and technical sales channels.
  • Assist Microchip Field Applications Engineer (FAE) team in the field and key customers to deliver innovative HW & SW solutions.
  • Work closely with Microchip Sales, Marketing & Engineering teams worldwide to develop differentiating hardware and software solutions.
  • Develop sample code, reusable software library, proof of concept, and reference solutions.
  • Develop customer-facing and internal technical collateral, including Knowledge Base articles, FAQ’s, Application notes and User guides.
  • Participate in industry trade shows and showcase Microchip’s Microcontroller, FPGA and Wired Networking solutions.
  • Lead and manage projects, mentor CAEs.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Hands-on knowledge of programming 8-bit, 16-bit, and 32-bit micro controllers/microprocessors in C/C++ language.
  • Working experience with Ethernet / networking drivers, networking protocols, Ethernet switches (TSN), PCIe.
  • Knowledge of ethernet L1/L2/L3 layers.
    • VLAN, MRP, SNMP, STP, SDP, QOS, PTP.
  • Knowledge of USB, UART, SPI, I2C, ADC, CAN, PWM, and other microcontroller peripherals.
  • Experienced in developing embedded software using professional Integrated Development Environment, hardware debugger & simulator tools.
  • Knowledge of FPGA architecture, design flow and lab debug is desirable.
  • Hands-on experience in using oscilloscope, logic analyzer, digital multi-meter, soldering iron and other tools.
  • Hands-on experience in designing & troubleshooting digital circuits using microcontrollers.
  • Working experience in embedded Linux systems on ARM Microprocessor.
    • GRUB/UEFI, Linux environment, Shell, Kernel and peripheral driver customization.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience in leading/managing projects/teams.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electronics with minimum 12 years of experience.
