The Opportunity

As a Principal / Lead Control Systems Engineer, you’ll lead a high-performing team delivering industrial control and communication systems for power generation assets.

Based in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide or Canberra, you’ll work across a diverse portfolio including renewables, BESS, modern thermal generation, and emerging technologies, helping clients solve complex challenges and transition to a more sustainable energy future.

What you’ll be doing

In this role, you will:

  • Lead and mentor a team of Control Systems Engineers across major energy projects
  • Drive technical leadership and project delivery across generation and new energy solutions
  • Support business development, including strategy, proposals and client engagement
  • Identify and pursue new opportunities across emerging generation technologies
  • Oversee design and delivery of control and instrumentation systems (PLC, DCS), functional safety systems (AS 61511) and EEHA designs
  • Develop control, protection and communication systems using protocols such as Modbus, DNP3, Ethernet/IP, OPC and IEC 61850
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including electrical engineers on protection and excitation systems
  • Provide technical advisory across refurbishment, operations and asset management projects
  • Manage project performance, including commercial metrics, risk and quality outcomes
  • Champion a strong health, safety, environment and quality (SHEQ) culture

About you

You’re a seasoned engineer and leader who thrives on delivering technically complex projects and building strong teams. You’ll bring:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
  • Chartered status and/or professional registration (CPEng, RPEQ, RPEV)
  • Functional Safety Assessment certification, or willingness to get one
  • Extensive experience across thermal and renewable generation projects (ideally 10+ years)
  • Proven experience or desire to step in a leadership or team management role
  • Strong track record delivering complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects
  • Commercial acumen and experience driving business outcomes and growth
  • Established industry networks and strong client relationship skills
  • Ability to mentor, develop and inspire high-performing teams
  • Strong understanding of safety in design, risk management and QA/OH&S systems
