We are seeking a talented Principal Traffic & Parking Engineer to join our growing Liveable Places team. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of streets, town centres and communities through innovative parking, traffic management and kerbside solutions. The role can be based from either our Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester or Newcastle offices, with hybrid working allowing for a mix of in-office and home-working.

As part of one of the UK's leading multidisciplinary consultancies, you will work with local authorities, combined authorities, developers and public sector clients to deliver projects that support sustainable transport, placemaking and thriving communities.

A Little More About Your Role

As a Principal Traffic & Parking Engineer, you will play a key role in developing and delivering a wide range of parking, traffic regulation and kerbside management projects. Depending on your experience, you will also contribute to client relationship management, business development and the growth of our specialist parking capability.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading and delivering parking strategy, design and operational projects.
• Developing Controlled Parking Zones (CPZs), parking strategies, reviews and parking management schemes.
• Working Collaboratively with the Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs) team.
• Advising clients on parking policy, enforcement and kerbside management.
• Managing project budgets, programmes and resources.
• Working collaboratively with colleagues across transport planning, active travel, highways, road safety, placemaking and urban design.
• Supporting public consultations, stakeholder engagement and committee reports.
• Building and maintaining strong client relationships.
• Identifying opportunities for new work and supporting business development activities.
• Support on bids and framework opportunities.

What We Will Be Looking For

We would love to hear from professionals who have experience in parking, traffic engineering or transport planning and are passionate about creating better places for people. You will ideally have:

• Experience delivering parking and traffic management projects within a consultancy, local authority or related environment.
• Strong knowledge of parking policy, Traffic Regulation Orders and traffic & parking design standards.
• Experience working with local authority clients and stakeholders.
• Excellent report writing and communication skills.
• Experience managing projects and client relationships.
• Commercial awareness and an understanding of project delivery.

The following would also be advantageous:

• Knowledge of moving traffic enforcement schemes.
• Experience supporting Controlled Parking Zones and parking strategy development.
• Professional membership of CIHT, TPS, ICE or a similar institution.
• Chartered status or a desire to work towards professional qualification.
