Team Overview Apollo is seeking a dynamic, transformational leader with deep people, process, and technology experience to join the Global Operations team in a Principal role. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and communication skills and will work collaboratively and effectively with investment teams, technology, and senior stakeholders across the organization. This role carries oversight across four core Trading Operations functions in India: Trade Support, Bank Debt Operations, Regulatory Reporting, and Treasury Shared Services. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing, risk and controls oversight, transformation, scaling, and rethinking how these teams operate — leveraging AI, data, and automation to drive efficiency and enable Apollo to partner with investment teams in new products and markets. We are looking for a subject matter expert with a transformation mindset to provide strategic and functional leadership across multiple Operations teams. The ideal candidate brings experience leading large-scale change initiatives, designing operating models for scale, and embedding technology — including AI and data solutions — into day-to-day workflows. In addition, the candidate will demonstrate the ability to work across complex, multi-platform environments and serve as a true business partner to the investment teams as Apollo enters new markets and asset classes.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Your responsibilities will include:

Multi-Team Leadership – Provide strategic and functional leadership and oversight across Trade Support, Bank Debt Operations, Regulatory Reporting, and Treasury Shared Services in India, setting vision, priorities, and performance standards for each function

Transformation & Operating Model Redesign – Partner with global functional heads and help lead the rethinking and restructuring of team functions, workflows, and processes to drive scale, reduce manual effort, and improve quality across all four Operations groups

AI, Data & Automation – Identify and implement AI-powered tools, data pipelines, and automation solutions to increase throughput and accuracy, reduce operational risk, and free teams to focus on exception management and higher-value work

Investment Team Partnership – Serve as a senior operational partner to investment teams entering new products or markets, ensuring Operations can support new asset classes, geographies, and transaction structures

Controls & Risk Management – Identify, escalate, and resolve process, operational, and system issues across all in-scope functions; maintain a strong control environment while driving efficiency improvements

Senior Leadership & Decision Making – Operate effectively in a fast-paced, global, high-intensity environment; exercise sound judgment in escalation, prioritization, and cross-functional decision-making at a senior level

Scalable Growth – Build the operational infrastructure, talent, and tooling needed to support Apollo’s AUM growth without proportional headcount expansion, champion a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and measurable outcomes

Cross-Asset & Platform Expertise – Deep knowledge of Fixed Income, Bank Debt, Derivatives, Equity, and other complex asset structures; working knowledge of platforms including Bloomberg, ClearPar, VPM, IVP/WAP, Versana, and related Operations systems

Stakeholder Management – Build and maintain strong relationships with Investment Operations leadership, technology, reconciliation, legal, compliance, and external counterparties including custodians, prime brokers, and vendors; serve as a trusted operational advisor to the business

Innovation & Technology Adoption – Proactively assess current workflows across Trade Support, BD Ops, Regulatory Reporting, and Treasury, and implement data-driven and AI-enabled improvements; position the India Operations hub as a center of excellence for automation and intelligent process design

Global Collaboration – Partner closely with Operations counterparts in New York and London on functional strategy, cross-regional initiatives, and best practice sharing; serve as the primary escalation point for in-scope teams and a senior voice in global Operations leadership discussions

Talent Development – Build and develop high-performing teams across all four functions; define career pathways, establish performance frameworks, and create the conditions for teams to grow alongside Apollo’s ambition

Qualifications & Experience

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies to perform the essential functions of this position:

Graduate/master’s degree/Chartered Accountant with focus in Operations/Finance/Accounting would be preferred

18+ years of relevant Operations experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role overseeing multiple teams or functions within a global financial institution or alternative asset manager

Demonstrated experience leading transformation initiatives: operating model redesign, automation implementation, or AI/data adoption within an Operations context; comfort with ambiguity and driving change in complex, matrixed organizations

Strong work ethic and shows initiative and deep desire to learn and strengthen individual skill set.

Solution oriented with ability to effectively prioritize workload. Someone who encourages creativity, and continuous improvement

Must be detail oriented, organized, and can work independently and as part of a team in a fast paced, deadline driven, high-risk environment.

Deep Knowledge of Credit, Fixed Income, Derivative, Equity, OTC securities

Experience with AI tools like Claude, Open AI etc
