Responsibilities
You will be working on a range of infrastructure schemes and will be responsible for the work prepared by a team of Technicians and assists with their development to improve knowledge and strengths.
You will be expected to play a proactive part in the design process and to be active on several projects at any given time.
You will ensure that all drawings are produced in accordance with the relevant technical standards, in adherence to WSP's and the Client's CAD Standards documentation.
You will actively develop the CAD and BIM skills and capabilities of a team and ensure deployment is appropriate to highways business and projects.
You will assist in the development of strategic BIM documentation, including BIM Execution Plans, BIM Standards and protocols.
You will contribute to our Lean approach to driving efficiency and removing waste from our processes.
You will work under the guidance of the project manager or designated discipline lead.
You will be involved with resource management, utilisation forecast, production of fee proposal and recruitments as required.
You will read, adher and ensure compliance to all relevant policies and procedures for Health and Safety including the H&S Policy, H&S Manual, and Local Procedures Manual.
Take responsibility for own personal development with the support of line manager and follow an agreed development plan.
Key Competencies / Skills:
Mandatory Skills
Ability to utilise AutoCAD or MicroStation in adherence to defined CAD standards to lead and develop engineering drawings.
Ability to liaise with the design teams as necessary to coordinate design and drawing production.
Capable of multi-tasking and managing multiple projects with the ability to accurately predict the time required to fulfil the individual scopes of work required.
Assists with establishing, maintaining and enforcing the use of proper CAD standards and procedures.
Undertake reviews of work produced by others to ensure high quality of CAD output.
Ability to customise and automation of programs and menus to increase drawing productivity
UK Highways project experience and knowledge of UK design standards
You should be able to demonstrate some experience and working knowledge of relevant technical design guidance and standards, such as DMRB, MfS, TSRGD, HCD, and IAN 184.
Ability to understand and communicate BIM and CAD standards for use on Civil engineering projects and possessing an appropriate overall level of knowledge of the UK infrastructure design sector.
Proficient in use of standard office software
Proficiency in the use of Bentley ProjectWise and Navisworks. You should be able to set up BIM models to the project standards and liaising with Model Managers.
Experience of using and optimising CAD resource libraries (cells / blocks, objects, seed files, etc).
Experience of supervising and coordinating the CAD output of others (either directly or indirectly) within a multi-disciplinary project environment.
A passion for quality and continuous improvement with a focus on delivery.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Effective time management and strong organisational skills.
Desired Skills
Knowledge of basic design using Civil 3D or MX
A clear understanding of Building Information Modelling and its benefits to the design and
construction Industry.
Experience of using a variety of design engineering modelling packages (CAD) and their interoperation, including applications such as MX, OpenRoads, Civil3D, AutoCAD and MicroStation.
Have a good working knowledge of industry standards such as the BIM Level 2 Document suite, Uniclass, CIC BIM Protocol etc.
Project management
Qualifications
You will have either Diploma or Degree level qualification in Civil Engineering or equivalent with 12 years’+ relevant post-graduate experience
Autodesk AutoCAD or Bentley MicroStation user certification
Professional qualified, such as EngTech with a recognised institution
