Are you an experienced Microsoft Exchange Engineer with a passion for designing, implementing, and managing robust email solutions? Are you ready to manage a hybrid Exchange environment that hosts 200k e-mail accounts and the e-mail traffic that comes with it?
The Enterprise Technology Services team is seeking a highly skilled professional to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of and experience with e-mail and how it works end-to-end. This role will primarily focus on administering Microsoft Exchange in both cloud and on-premises environments. The role involves strategic planning, architecture design, and hands-on implementation of our email infrastructure.
What you’ll do:
• System Design and Architecture: Design and create scalable, high-performance, and reliable system architectures and platforms.
• Requirements Analysis and Integration: Translate business needs into technical specifications and ensure seamless integration of system components.
• Technical Leadership and Collaboration: Provide guidance to development teams, align technical solutions with business objectives, and collaborate with stakeholders.
• Performance, Reliability, and Troubleshooting: Conduct performance and reliability analysis, and resolve system issues and bottlenecks.
• Documentation, Security, and Continuous Improvement: Maintain detailed system documentation, ensure security and compliance, and stay updated with industry trends for ongoing improvement.
What you’ll need:
Design, build and maintain AT&T Hybrid Exchange environment
Oversee day to day administration of Exchange environments, both on-premises and online
Work with peer organizations in AT&T to ensure our Exchange environment integrates seamlessly with existing IT infrastructure including Active Directory, Office 365 and other cloud solutions
Work with developers across AT&T to ensure e-mail standards are met as it pertains to sending and receiving emails
Design, build and maintain PowerShell scripts for account migrations and health checks
Work with team to implement and manage disaster recovery and a high availability Exchange environment
Partner with peers on the SMTP Relay side of the business to ensure seamless delivery of emails across AT&T
Ensure that new security standards such as TLS 1.3, anti-spam, data loss protection (DLP) are being met across the Exchange environment
Provide 3rd line support for internal help desk tickets
Develop and maintain detailed documentation of Exchange architecture, configurations, and procedures
Weeklong on-call responsibilities for issues and troubleshooting up to multiple times a year. Includes holidays.
Design applications, platforms or services by translating core business requirements into comprehensive technical solutions, ensuring functional, performance, and reliability through hands-on system design, technical enablement, and strategic decision-making across platform, network, software, and cloud environments.
What you’ll bring:
8-10 years of experience in a large Hybrid Exchange environment
Extensive experience in designing, implementing, and managing Microsoft -Exchange Server (2016/2019) and Exchange Online
Experience with PowerShell scripting for automation and management tasks.
Experience with web development, c#, MS Graph
Proficient in Microsoft 365 and hybrid cloud solutions
Strong knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, and related infrastructure components
Familiarity with security practices and compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA)
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Relevant certifications such as MCSE: Productivity, Microsoft 365 Certified: -Messaging Administrator Associate, or equivalent are highly desirable
An expert in their field, applying broad business knowledge and strategic insight surrounding emerging trends and technologies to solve complex problems and drive organizational results. Leads critical, high-impact projects and designs/implements innovative business strategies. Works with minimal oversight, frequently consulting senior leadership and influencing executive decisions. Serves as a mentor and assists others with challenging issues.
TCP Career Step Differentiator: Designs systems and platforms for very large complex projects for strategic clients and that have multiple system interdependencies. Must have a strong understanding of computers (hardware and OS), network, and software architecture.
Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) desired in Computer Science. Certification is required in some areas.

Our Principal System Engineering, earns between $174,100-$261,100 USD Annual, Not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
