We have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Structural Engineer to join our team in Dublin.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing Company, recently launched in Dublin, but with the backing of an established Company in the UK and a wider Group in France. You will have the opportunity to work on major infrastructure, transportation and energy projects in Ireland and internationally. Working as part of a small team will provide opportunities and exposure to a broad range of experiences and responsibilities. Some of the day to day tasks will include:

  • Lead and undertake assignments in Ireland and internationally, collaborating across teams in a multidisciplinary environment
  • Deliver engineering solutions across a broad range of structural types and using local and international standard, including structural design and analysis at a range of project stages including conceptual, preliminary and detailed design; checking and analysis of internal and third-party designs; value engineering to review designs and assist in finding solutions and improvements for clients; finite element analysis and report on results
  • Monitor staff time and budgets against assignment programme and agree appropriate actions where necessary
  • Undertake project management which may include monitoring programmes and budgets, liaising with teams and individuals and reporting progress and updates, liaise with Clients and managing Client relationships
  • Prepare drawings, reports, calculations, analysis and specifications to report internally and to clients

Qualifications

  • Professionally qualified and Chartered Civil Engineer with extensive structural and civil engineering experience on infrastructure, transportation or energy projects
  • Good knowledge of structural processes and design, with a particular emphasis on data interpretation, design & analysis, construction and advanced numerical modelling
  • Experience of computer analysis of structures and design of structural elements in common materials i.e. steel, concrete, composite, fibre reinforced concrete and CFRP
  • Experience at Assignment Manager and Designer level with a proven record of managing commercial and contractual aspects and delivering assignments to programme and budget
  • Proven ability to build, maintain and develop relationships with clients
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to communicate, listen and influence; able to adapt technical message to audience
  • Ability to think and act operationally and strategically, respond quickly to changing circumstances whilst maintaining a clear view of overall priorities
  • Excellent team working skills; able to lead, contribute to and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams in a matrix environment
  • Knowledge and experience in structural analysis/finite element software such as LUSAS, MasterFrame, RM Bridge, SAM (Autodesk Structural Bridge Design)
  • Excellent Microsoft Office abilities (particularly Excel)
