Job Description

Develops and tests software applications in a large enterprise environment, using JavaScript/Typescript, Cypress/Playwright, and REST Assured. Investigates, isolates, and solves technical issues across the full technology stack, using automated and manual testing methodologies. Tests Angular/Vue-based User Interfaces (UIs) using RESTful Web Services. Applies Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) principles using Jenkins and Git. Automates application pipelines, using Git, Jenkins, and uDeploy. Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications and conducting studies of alternatives. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Participates in architecture design teams.
  • Defines and implements application-level architecture.
  • Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.
  • Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.
  • Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.
  • Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.
  • Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.
  • Responsible for meeting project goals on time and on budget.
  • Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.
  • Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.
  • Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.
  • Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.
  • Advises senior management on technical strategy.
  • Mentors junior team members.
  • Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
  • Develops original and creative technical solutions for ongoing development efforts.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) designing, developing, and maintaining Test Automation Frameworks in a health and financial services environment.

Or, alternatively, Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) designing, developing, and maintaining Test Automation Frameworks in a health and financial services environment.

Skills and Knowledge

Candidate must also possess:

  • Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) across the full software development lifecycle -- analysis, design, development, testing, build, and deployment -- using Java, JavaScript, Cypress, Playwright, and Selenium; developing and debugging code with Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) -- Eclipse, IntelliJ, RubyMine, and Visual Studio; and delivering high-quality solutions within Agile and DevOps environments.
  • DE developing Application Programming Interface (API) automation frameworks using Rest Assured (Java) and Cypress/Playwright (Node.js); validating RESTful and SOAP APIs (GraphQL responses and dynamic data injection); and delivering scalable solutions for digital platforms in brokerage, financial services, and healthcare domains.
  • DE designing and implementing scalable, maintainable automation frameworks -- Java, JavaScript, Cucumber, TestNG, and Groovy/Spock to perform behavior-driven testing and test orchestration; applying Test-Driven Development (TDD), Behavior-Driven Development (BDD), and designing patterns, using WebdriverIO, Mocha, JUnit, TestNG, and Karma to ensure modular, reusable, and reliable test automation.
  • DE building and maintaining automated pipelines to ensure build quality and test reliability, using Jenkins, Maven, GitHub, and Groovy; integrating test automation with JIRA Xray for test management and reporting, supporting continuous integration and delivery across QA environments.
