About the Role
Hella Gutmann is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Senior Data Engineer / Principal Software Engineer to join our
India Software Development Centre. This role is ideal for a highly skilled
technologist with ~15 years of software engineering experience, strong
expertise in C++, Python, and a passion for building intelligent,
AI-driven data platforms - preferably within the automotive domain.
You will play a key role in designing and implementing
scalable data and AI systems that power next-generation vehicle diagnostics,
telematics, and service solutions, with a focus on Agentic AI systems,
automation, and intelligent decision-making frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
System Design & Engineering
Design
and implement high-performance, scalable data pipelines and platforms using
C++ and Python.
Architect
solutions for processing large-scale automotive data (vehicle diagnostics,
telemetry, IoT streams).
Ensure
performance, reliability, and maintainability of distributed systems.
Data Engineering
Build
and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines, real-time streaming systems, and
data lakes.
Work
with structured and unstructured datasets from automotive systems.
Ensure
data governance, quality, and availability.
Collaboration & Leadership
Lead
technical design discussions and mentor senior/junior engineers.
Collaborate
with global teams across Germany and other locations.
Drive
engineering best practices, code quality, and innovation.
Translate
business needs into technical solutions aligned with automotive standards.
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications
15+
years of software engineering experience.
Strong
hands-on expertise in:
C++
(core systems, performance-oriented programming)
Python
(data engineering, AI/ML integration)
Work with SQL databases for data storage, querying, and validation.
Proven
experience in:
Building
distributed systems and data pipelines
Working
with large-scale data processing systems
Strong
understanding of:
System
design, algorithms, and performance optimization
Automotive
protocols (CAN, OBD-II, ODX, OTX,
UDS, and DoIP)
Software
architecture (microservices, event-driven systems)

Preferred Qualifications
Experience
in the automotive industry (OEMs, Tier-1 suppliers,
diagnostics, telematics).
Experience
with AI/ML systems, including exposure to:
LLMs,
AI agents, or intelligent automation frameworks
Agentic
AI frameworks (multi-agent systems, autonomous workflows)
Cloud
platforms (Azure / AWS / GCP)
Streaming
technologies (Kafka, Flink, Spark)
Knowledge
of KOS(Knowledge organization system)
Familiarity
with:
Data
platforms and big data ecosystems
Experience
leading global engineering teams or large initiatives
