Could you be our next Principal Scientist, Translational Science Immunology? The job is in our Waltham MA Office. This is a hybrid position three days a week onsite. You will report to the Senior Director, Translational Research.
You will be responsible for leading and executing translational research and preclinical development activities in relation to the Research Projects to support the Immunology Therapeutic Area Portfolio. You will focus on design, planning, execution, and reporting of Work-Packages related to Pharmacology and Translational Research. The incumbent fosters innovation and maintains CSL’s scientific leadership. The role includes collaborating with lab staff and CROs, representing the Translational Research team internally and externally, and contributing to strategic initiatives through collaboration, scientific excellence, and project delivery.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1 Design and implement in vitro and ex vivo studies to investigate the mechanism of action of lead therapeutic candidates, understand disease patho-mechanisms and drive target validation activities.
2 Design appropriate PD response/biomarker strategies and assays to support non-GLP/GLP toxicology studies and first in human clinical studies/early clinical studies, including writing Biomarker Strategy Documents and leading Biomarker Expert Teams.
3 Collaborate with Immunology focused In vivo pharmacology researchers to provide pre-clinical studies in support of indication selection, including writing project proposals, research plans, and research agreements.
4 Collaborate with clinical researchers/clinical development team (lead clinicians, clinical pharmacology, clinical biomarkers) to provide pre-clinical studies to support indication selection and biomarker strategy, including writing project proposals, research plans, human ethics applications and research agreements.
5 Contribute to writing investigator brochures, regulatory submission, clinical study reports and other documents to support project progression
6 Works with Research Therapeutic Area Lead (RTAL) to develop and implement Research Strategy and to ensure project planning and execution is aligned with TA priorities.
7 Effectively liaises between Research TA Core team and Translational Research team together with key internal functions regarding strategic priorities and project implementation.
8 Provides Research input into early phase NPO due diligence process.
9 Works to build external scientific and industry networks relevant to Immunology TA (working with relevant members of Senior Management in Research function)
Experience:
PhD in discipline relevant to Immunology TA (Immunology, Cellular Biology)
10+ years academic and / or industry experience relevant to Immunology TA
Immunology or immune-mediated disease(s)Track record in the development and conduct of high-quality research activity relevant to Immunology or immune-mediated disease(s)
Experience in translation of research outcomes into early clinical development
The expected base salary range for this position at hiring is $145,000 - $180,000. Please note this salary range reflects the minimum and maximum base pay that CSL expects to pay for this position at the time of this posting in MA. Individual base salary for a successful candidate is determined by qualifications, skill level, experience, competencies and other relevant factors. In addition to base salary, total compensation for this role may also include incentive compensation and equity.
