Collins Aerospace is seeking a Principal Quality Engineer to lead quality initiatives across supply chain, manufacturing, and program management operations. In this role, you will develop and improve quality systems, process controls, and risk management strategies to ensure compliance with customer and regulatory requirements. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will drive continuous improvement, resolve quality issues, and implement corrective actions to enhance product and process performance.

This position is based at our Santa Isabel, Puerto Rico location. Candidates must be residing in Puerto Rico at the time of starting employment. Relocation is not offered.

What You Will Do

• Develop, modify, apply, and maintain quality evaluation systems, process controls, and quality protocols supporting Supply Chain, Program Management, and Manufacturing operations.
• Ensure products, suppliers, and manufacturing processes comply with customer, regulatory, contractual, and internal quality requirements.
• Lead product and process risk management activities utilizing PFMEA, Control Plans, Process Flow Diagrams, PPAP, Measurement System Analysis (MSA), Gage R&R, and other quality engineering tools.
• Evaluate and approve engineering changes, process deviations, testing activities, work transfers, change management initiatives, and nonconforming material dispositions through MRB processes.
• Lead escape management investigations, perform root cause analyses, and implement effective corrective and preventive actions to improve product and process performance.
• Develop inspection plans, testing methods, measurement systems, and quality methodologies that ensure product reliability and conformance.
• Analyze quality metrics, audit results, and manufacturing performance to identify improvement opportunities and reduce operational risk.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Program Management teams to implement proactive quality strategies and support production readiness activities.
• Serve as a subject matter expert, providing technical guidance while influencing quality policies, procedures, and continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.
• Lead or support complex quality engineering projects with minimal supervision while mentoring and coaching less experienced quality professionals.

Qualifications You Must Have:

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience.
• Demonstrated professional or educational experience communicating in English and Spanish (verbal and written).

Qualifications We Prefer

• Experience in Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supplier Quality, or a related discipline within aerospace, defense, medical device, or another highly regulated manufacturing environment.
• Working knowledge of PFMEA, Control Plans, Process Flow Diagrams, PPAP, MRB processes, Gage R&R, Measurement System Analysis (MSA), statistical process control, and other quality engineering tools.
• Experience supporting supplier quality, work transfers, change management, production readiness, and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) activities.
• Experience with SAP or other Quality Management Systems (QMS).
