The Principal Product Lead will own roadmap leadership, intake-to-prioritization governance, user and stakeholder alignment, value measurement, and sequencing of cross-team product work for a large-scale federal data and analytics modernization program. The program supports governed data assets, trusted analytics, internal and public-facing dashboards, APIs, AI-enabled services, and user enablement.
This role will translate product vision and modernization objectives into outcome-oriented roadmaps, prioritization recommendations, user stories, acceptance criteria, and release sequencing. The Principal Product Lead will work with customer product owners, stakeholders, user communities, and delivery leaders to expand governed self-service analytics, reduce duplication, improve discoverability, and advance responsible AI and data product adoption.
Responsibilities
- Own roadmap development, intake-to-prioritization governance, user and stakeholder alignment, value measurement, and sequencing of cross-team product work.
- Develop and maintain thematic roadmaps that communicate how the program will deliver value in short-term and longer-term increments while remaining adaptable to funding, statutory, security, source-readiness, and policy changes.
- Partner with customer product owners and management stakeholders to define expected outcomes, hypotheses, value measures, trade-offs, and success criteria for features, workflows, data products, dashboards, APIs, and AI capabilities.
- Use user archetypes, journey research, support trends, and qualitative and quantitative feedback to guide product strategy, onboarding, documentation, service design, and AI rollout decisions.
- Translate research findings and stakeholder needs into actionable backlog items, user stories, PI objectives, acceptance criteria, roadmap adjustments, documentation updates, and service-guide changes.
- Coordinate product sequencing across delivery workstreams, including user success, documentation, support, analytics experience, dashboard governance, public-facing products, AI and platform feature enablement, data supply chain, metadata maturity, APIs, and partner integrations.
- Promote simple, intuitive, accessible user experiences across onboarding, access, discoverability, documentation, dashboards, conversational analytics, public-facing products, and support escalation paths.
- Lead applicable coverage areas, including unified front-door service, user support, onboarding, documentation, coaching and training, communications, analytics discoverability, dashboard governance, AI service rollout, support operations, and stakeholder engagement.
Required qualifications
- All candidates must pass public trust clearance through the U.S. Federal Government. This requires candidates to either be U.S. citizens or pass clearance through the Foreign National Government System which will require that candidates have lived within the United States for at least 3 out of the previous 5 years, have a valid and non-expired passport from their country of birth and appropriate VISA/work permit documentation
- 10+ years of experience in a product management or related roles
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
- Demonstrated ability to lead product management for data, analytics, cloud platform, digital service, API, or enterprise software programs with multiple stakeholder groups.
- Experience owning product roadmaps, intake models, prioritization frameworks, product metrics, stakeholder alignment, release sequencing, and cross-team product governance.
- Ability to apply Human-Centered Design methods, user research, usability testing, journey mapping, personas, prototypes, content analysis, and feedback loops to inform product direction.
- Experience translating user and stakeholder needs into user stories, acceptance criteria, PI objectives, product decisions, service guides, documentation, and measurable outcomes.
- Working understanding of governed self-service analytics, data products, metadata, dashboard governance, public-facing reporting workflows, API services, AI-enabled capabilities, onboarding, support, and change management.
- Knowledge of accessibility, plain language, U.S. Web Design System patterns, Section 508, WCAG 2.1 AA, public-data controls, and privacy-aware publication practices for user-facing products.
- Ability to comply with customer-specific security, privacy, accessibility, quality, training, and data-handling requirements for assigned systems and data.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience supporting federal, public sector, healthcare, or other regulated data, analytics, oversight, reporting, or public transparency programs.
- Experience with modern data platforms, data catalogs, BI tools, workflow tools, research repositories, source control, collaboration platforms, and work management tools.
- Experience delivering certified analytics, governed dashboard products, public-facing publication packages, role-based learning paths, service catalogs, coaching and training, office hours, or user adoption programs.
- Familiarity with AI/BI conversational analytics, AI service governance, metadata maturity, data cataloging, governed data asset promotion, APIs, and data product operating models.
- Hands-on experience building and optimizing data pipelines within the Databricks platform
- Preferred certifications may include Certified Scrum Product Owner, SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager, SAFe Lean Portfolio Management, Human-Centered Design, Product Management, Data Governance, AWS, Databricks, or Accessibility credentials.
Working Environment
eSimplicity supports a remote work environment operating within the Eastern time zone so we can work with and respond to our government clients. Expected hours are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern unless otherwise directed by manager.
Occasional travel for training and project meetings. It is estimated to be less than 5% per year.
