Job Description

Intuit’s Business Platform powers millions of small and mid-sized businesses, connecting accounting, payments, payroll, capital, and third-party apps into a unified ecosystem. As the platform evolves, the opportunity - and responsibility - is to create experiences that feel cohesive, intelligent, and trustworthy across the entire system.

We are seeking a Principal Product Designer to shape the future of the Intuit Accounting Platform in QuickBooks, and influencing Intuit Accountant Suite, and Intuit Enterprise Suite. This is a high-craft, systems-oriented role focused on defining end-to-end platform experiences that are clear, scalable, and deeply useful. You will partner across business units to ensure the ecosystem works as one - reducing friction, strengthening trust, and elevating the quality bar across every touchpoint.

This is not a feature-level role. It is about defining how the system behaves, how experiences connect, and what “great” looks like at platform scale.

Responsibilities

Platform & Systems Design Leadership

  • Define and drive a multi-year design vision for shared platform experiences across the ecosystem
  • Connect the dots across surfaces, workflows, and business units to create cohesive, end-to-end experiences
  • Model and champion a platform mindset - balancing local optimization with systemic integrity
  • Raise the bar for clarity, interaction quality, and craft across high-impact experiences
  • Partner with Design, Product, and Engineering leadership to shape long-term UX strategy aligned to business goals

High-Craft Design Execution

  • Lead the design of complex, cross-functional initiatives from concept through delivery
  • Translate ambiguous platform challenges into structured design approaches and tangible solutions
  • Produce prototypes and artifacts that communicate systems thinking, interaction depth, and experience quality
  • Thoughtfully evolve and extend design systems - knowing when to leverage standards and when to push them forward
  • Explore emerging interaction patterns and technologies (including AI) in ways that meaningfully improve outcomes - not just novelty

Ecosystem Thinking

  • Design across journeys, not screens - ensuring continuity across onboarding, setup, daily workflows, and growth moments
  • Identify and resolve experience fragmentation and design debt across organizational boundaries
  • Drive alignment across teams working on interconnected parts of the platform
  • Balance innovation with consistency to strengthen customer trust and reduce cognitive load

Storytelling & Influence

  • Articulate complex systems concepts through compelling narratives, frameworks, and visual storytelling
  • Facilitate workshops, critiques, and alignment sessions to drive shared understanding across senior stakeholders
  • Influence decisions at the Director and VP level through clarity of thought and strength of craft
  • Make the invisible visible - surfacing tradeoffs, experience risks, and long-term implications of design choices

Craft Leadership & Mentorship

  • Set the standard for interaction design, systems thinking, and execution quality
  • Mentor senior and staff designers, elevating platform thinking and craft rigor
  • Strengthen design culture through critiques, rituals, and principled decision-making
  • Contribute to hiring and shaping the next generation of design talent

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience designing complex, large-scale product experiences
  • Demonstrated success shaping platform-level or ecosystem-level design strategy
  • Deep expertise in systems thinking, interaction design, and design systems
  • Exceptional craft across flows, structure, and visual execution
  • Proven ability to navigate ambiguity and define clarity at scale
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end thinking - not just feature design
  • Ability to synthesize qualitative insights and quantitative data into actionable design directionExperience influencing cross-functional leaders and aligning multiple teams around a shared vision
