We are seeking a Principal Process Engineer with proven experience in the Life Sciences sector (mandatory requirement). This role is focused on front-end engineering and involves leading process design activities during the earliest phases of project development, including:

  • Feasibility studies
  • Concept design
  • Early/basic design packages

This is a client-facing position, requiring strong communication skills, confidence in technical discussions, and the ability to represent Fluor in early project engagements.

You will join the Global Project Development Studio (PDS)—a worldwide team of subject matter experts within Fluor’s Advanced Technology & Life Sciences Division. The PDS delivers up to fifty early-phase projects annually across Life Sciences, advanced manufacturing, semiconductors, data centers, and battery manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead process design activities for Life Sciences projects (biotech, pharma, API, fill-finish, etc.)—this is a core requirement.
  • Act as the primary technical interface with clients during early project phases.
  • Develop process flow diagrams and integrated equipment layouts supporting facility arrangements.
  • Collaborate closely with architects and multi-discipline teams to size and position equipment according to process needs.
  • Analyze design challenges, evaluate options, and recommend solutions.
  • Support business development activities and contribute to securing new front-end projects.
  • Plan and execute process engineering tasks in line with project scope and contractual requirements.
  • Support estimating, equipment pricing, and proposal development.
  • Share best practices in chemical/process engineering across the organization.

Basic Job Requirements

  • Accredited four-year engineering degree (or global equivalent) and approx. 17-20 years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated and substantial experience in the Life Sciences sector — required.
  • Experience in front-end engineering (feasibility, concept, basic design).
  • Strong client-facing communication skills and confidence in early-phase discussions.
  • Ability to work effectively with management, clients, vendors, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Analytical mindset and ability to propose solutions to complex design challenges.
  • Strong technical and business writing skills.
  • Understanding of engineering, procurement, equipment design, construction, commissioning, and project interfaces.
  • Ability to travel occasionally to other Fluor offices or client sites.
  • Knowledge of Danish Life Science market
  • Fluency in English language
  • Work permit in EU
