At Novo Nordisk, we are building Novo Nordisk DataCore Platform based on Databricks - a strategic enterprise data and analytics platform enabling critical business and scientific use cases across the organization. We are looking for a Principal Platform Engineer to help define the technical direction, engineering standards, and platform capabilities powering the next generation of data and analytics solutions.

This is a senior technical leadership role for an experienced platform engineering expert who thrives in complex enterprise environments and is passionate about building scalable, secure, and compliant platforms.You will work closely with global engineering teams and stakeholders across our enterprise while driving platform excellence in a highly regulated pharmaceutical environment.

The Position

As Principal Platform Engineer, you will act as a technical authority for platform engineering and cloud infrastructure within the DataCore platform. You will define best practices, guide architecture decisions, mentor senior engineers, and ensure platform scalability, security, and operational excellence.You are expected to combine strategic thinking with deep hands-on technical expertise and influence platform direction across organizational boundaries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive technical leadership and platform engineering strategy for Novo Nordisk DataCore Platform.
  • Define and implement engineering standards, reusable patterns, and platform best practices.
  • Lead architecture decisions across AWS, Azure, Terraform, and Databricks.
  • Ensure secure, scalable, reliable, and compliant platform solutions.
  • Establish Infrastructure as Code and automation best practices.
  • Support and enable Data Mesh aligned platform capabilities.
  • Collaborate with security, governance, and enterprise architecture teams.
  • Mentor senior engineers and strengthen engineering excellence across teams.
  • Influence platform evolution and technical decision-making across global stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance to our quality management system.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field with 10+yrs of experience.
  • Extensive experience in enterprise platform engineering and cloud infrastructure.
  • Proven expertise with Terraform, AWS, Azure, Databricks, CI/CD and DevOps practices.
  • Strong understanding of Infrastructure as Code and platform automation.
  • Experience working in highly regulated environments such as pharmaceutical, healthcare, or financial services industries.
  • Strong understanding of governance, security, compliance, and operational excellence.
  • Experience with Data Mesh concepts and enterprise-scale data platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor senior engineers and influence technical direction.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in global enterprise organizations.
  • Familiarity with enterprise data and analytics platforms.
  • Experience driving platform modernization and engineering transformation initiatives.
  • Knowledge of platform observability, reliability engineering, and cloud governance frameworks.
