Job Description

Wood is currently recruiting for a Principal Piping Engineer to join our team in Baku, Azerbaijan.

The Principal Piping Engineer will provide technical leadership and expertise across all phases of project execution, ensuring the delivery of safe, cost-effective, and high-quality engineering solutions. The successful candidate will lead piping engineering activities, support multidisciplinary project teams, and play a key role in delivering complex Oil & Gas projects while maintaining compliance with client requirements and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate piping engineering design and execution activities across projects.
  • Ensure all piping deliverables are completed to the required quality, schedule, and budget targets.
  • Review and approve piping calculations, specifications, material requisitions, and design deliverables.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to piping engineers and designers.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable international codes, standards, and company procedures.
  • Interface with clients, vendors, contractors, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Support design reviews, HAZOPs, constructability reviews, and project audits.
  • Identify and resolve complex technical issues and provide innovative engineering solutions.
  • Contribute to proposal development, technical studies, and bid evaluations.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure engineering work is executed in accordance with HSE requirements.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience in piping engineering within the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, or Energy industries.
  • Strong knowledge of ASME, API, and other relevant international piping standards and codes.
  • Proven experience leading engineering teams and managing technical interfaces on complex projects.
  • Experience in FEED, Detailed Design, Brownfield and Greenfield projects.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.
