Principal Master Planner

Abu Dhabi, UAE

Core Responsibilities:

  • Review Concept and Detailed Master Plans to ensure compliance with zoning, land use, density controls, and infrastructure coordination.

  • Evaluate land use distribution, development mix, phasing strategies, access, circulation, and overall development structure.

  • Ensure alignment between planning proposals and the client's master planning vision and business strategy.

  • Issue Master Developer/Owner planning NOCs for authority submissions.

  • Maintain the approved master plan and ensure all deviations, plot changes, and amendments are properly recorded.

  • Manage review of plot-level planning applications including merging, division, and GFA adjustments.

  • Coordinate planning comments across architecture, urban design, utilities, traffic, and infrastructure disciplines.

  • Participate in technical meetings with DMT, developers, and consultants.

  • Prepare planning reports, review notes, and submission documentation.

  • Ensure all submissions meet DMT planning standards and regulations.

  • Monitor planning policies and regulatory updates affecting development approvals.

  • Maintain accurate land and planning records for reporting and governance.

Tools & Visualization Capabilities:

  • Proficient in AutoCAD, GIS, and planning-related software.

  • Able to analyse planning layouts, density metrics, GFA, and land use schedules.

  • Capable of preparing planning diagrams and concept plan

Consultant Oversight & Management:

  • Coordinate with planning and multi-disciplinary consultants.

  • Manage review cycles across concept and detailed planning stages.

  • Facilitate coordination meetings and workshops.

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning, or Architecture

Technical Qualifications:

  • Strong expertise in Concept & Detailed Master Planning

  • Experience with land-use distribution, density controls, GFA, FAR, phasing strategies

  • Knowledge of DMT planning regulations, zoning policies, and approval processes

  • Ability to manage plot-level changes, deviations, and amendments

  • Strong coordination across architecture, traffic, utilities, and infrastructure

Language Skills:

Written and Spoken English and Arabic is essential.

Tools:

AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Project, Excel (Planning Schedule, lan-use budgets)

Preferred: GIS, SketchUp, Test Fit

Years of Experience:

Minimum 10 years of experience in Urban Planning with multi discipline approach.
