We are not looking for somebody to keep the function running as it does today.
We are looking for somebody who helps build the Non-Financial Risk function of tomorrow.
As technology, data and artificial intelligence reshape banking, the role of Non-Financial Risk is changing as well. Future success will depend not only on technical expertise, but also on the ability to set clear priorities, use data effectively, develop people, improve ways of working and keep pace with developments inside and outside the bank.
Reporting directly to the CRO, you will help shape the future direction of the Non-Financial Risk function, combining deep IT Risk expertise with the ability to create focus, develop people, drive change and prepare the function for an increasingly data-driven and AI-enabled future.
The role covers both IT Risk and Operational Risk. Both are part of your scope and attention. We are, however, specifically looking for somebody with a strong IT Risk background. Given BMG's technology-dependent operating model, specialised application landscape and increasing focus on data and AI, IT Risk expertise is a critical foundation for success in this position, while Operational Risk experience remains an essential part of the role.
You will work with a small team of experienced Operational and IT Risk professionals. This is a true player-coach role: helping shape priorities, strengthen capabilities and improve the way the team operates, while personally contributing to some of the most complex IT and Operational Risk topics within BMG.
BMG operates in a specialised, technology-dependent environment, with global clients, unique cash and liquidity management products and a largely BMG-specific application landscape.
You are expected to remain close to the content.
You will:
While the role covers both Operational Risk and IT Risk, we expect your deepest expertise to be in IT Risk and Technology Risk, enabling you to challenge effectively on topics such as cybersecurity, resilience, technology change, cloud, outsourcing, data risk and AI-related risks.
We hire smart people like you for your potential. Our biggest expectation is that you’ll stay curious. Keep learning. Take on responsibility. In return, we’ll back you to develop into an even more awesome version of yourself
We are looking for somebody who:
You will be successful when:
BMG combines the complexity and regulatory expectations of an international bank with the agility and visibility of a specialist organisation.
You will work directly with senior decision-makers and have the opportunity to influence the direction of the Non-Financial Risk function. Unlike many larger organisations, you will be able to see the impact of your contribution and help shape how the function develops.
At the same time, you will benefit from BMG's position within ING, providing access to broader expertise, specialist communities, development opportunities and leading practices across the wider organisation.
This role offers a rare combination of:
