The Department for Infrastructure and Transport plays a vital role connecting people and places in South Australia by managing roads, marine and public transport networks across the State, and builds and maintains the State-owned infrastructure that enables the delivery of essential and important government services to our community.

The Legal, Commercial and Assurance Services Directorate provides expert legal, legislative, commercial and assurance support to the Department, helping ensure compliance with legislative obligations, strengthening commercial capability, and enabling the safe delivery of current and future transport initiatives.

This role leads legislative reform projects, provides expert legislative advice, including assisting the Minister in the passage of legislative amendments through the Parliamentary process, and works with key stakeholders to deliver strategic outcomes. We are seeking a collaborative and influential professional with strong analytical capabilities, excellent verbal and written communication and negotiation skills, capable of identifying creative solutions to resolve complex legislative issues and drive initiatives that align with government and departmental objectives

Educational Qualifications / Licences

  • A tertiary qualification in law or other relevant discipline is desirable.
  • Previous experience in a similar role is desirable.

Special Conditions

  • Attendance may be required on Public Holidays and over the Christmas New Year period.
  • Attendance may be required at Parliament to assist the passage of legislation.
  • A National Police Check (NPC) is required prior to employment in the Department for Infrastructure and Transport which must be renewed every three years.
  • Some out of hours and weekend work, along with some intra/interstate travel requiring overnight stays, may be required.

ASO7 - $116,089 to $125,490 pa + Superannuation
