Job Description

At The Cigna Group, we are building the next generation of Legal Operations—focused on greater financial clarity, stronger governance, and more informed decision-making across a complex enterprise environment. We are seeking a strategic financial leader to help design and mature the financial operating model for our Legal organization.

As Director, Legal Financial Operations, you will serve as a trusted advisor to Legal leadership, shaping financial strategy and enabling better decisions through disciplined planning, forecasting, analytics, and governance. You will collaborate across Legal Operations and with enterprise partners—including Finance, Accounting, and Global Risk Management—to strengthen financial transparency, improve forecasting accuracy, and build scalable capabilities that support long-term organizational performance.

This is a highly visible individual contributor role with significant enterprise impact.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Legal organization's budgeting, forecasting, accrual, and annual financial planning processes.

  • Develop and deliver financial reporting, dashboards, and analytics that provide meaningful insights into legal spend and operational performance.

  • Partner with Legal leadership and enterprise stakeholders to provide financial analysis and recommendations that support strategic decision-making.

  • Monitor financial performance, identify trends, and support resource planning and allocation decisions.

  • Establish and maintain financial governance processes to improve the accuracy, consistency, and transparency of Legal financial data.

  • Leverage Enterprise Legal Management (ELM) and e-billing technologies to support reporting, analytics, and operational decision-making.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to simplify, standardize, and enhance financial and operational processes.

  • Support strategic Legal Operations initiatives and special projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Legal Operations, or a related field.

  • 8+ more years of experience in Legal Operations, financial planning and analysis, business operations, financial operations, accounting, or a related discipline.

  • Experience supporting Legal Operations, legal spend management, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and analytics strongly desired.

  • Candidates with significant business operations or financial operations experience in a complex enterprise environment will also be considered.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and translate complex data into actionable business insights.

  • Experience working collaboratively across multiple functions and levels of leadership.

  • Experience utilizing Enterprise Legal Management (ELM) and e-billing technologies, including TeamConnect, Collaborati, CounselLink, Legal Tracker, or similar platforms.

  • MBA, CPA, CMA, or other relevant professional certification is a plus.

  • This position is open to remote and office-based candidates across the U.S., with a preference for candidates located near a The Cigna Group office.


If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 130,100 - 216,900 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus and long term incentive plan.
