Job Description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Herefordshire to assist with the appointment of a Principal Integrated Transport Planner, on a Permanent contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £46142.00 - £50269.00 per annum

The Principal Integrated Transport Officer will play a leading role in shaping and delivering transport strategies, policies, and projects across Herefordshire. The postholder will support the delivery of integrated transport and active travel initiatives, secure external funding opportunities, manage transport projects and consultants, and work closely with internal and external stakeholders to improve connectivity, sustainability, and accessibility across the county.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the delivery of integrated transport projects and initiatives within the Local Transport Plan.
  • Drive the development and implementation of the Local Cycling, Walking and Wheeling Infrastructure Plan (LCWWIP).
  • Identify, develop, and secure external funding opportunities and prepare successful funding bids.
  • Manage transport projects, consultants, budgets, and programme delivery.
  • Provide expert transport planning advice to senior officers, elected members, and stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Degree or equivalent experience in Transport Planning, Planning, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Relevant professional qualification in Transport Planning or a related field.

Essentials:

  • Experience in transport planning, active travel, policy development, or infrastructure delivery.
  • Strong knowledge of national transport policy, funding streams, and sustainable transport initiatives.
  • Experience managing projects, budgets, consultants, and stakeholder relationships.
  • Excellent communication, report writing, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to analyse data, develop practical solutions, and deliver transport improvements.
