We are seeking an Integrated SHEC Systems Principal to lead the governance, maintenance and continuous improvement of Discovery Group’s (DG) SHEC Management System. This role will ensure the system remains practical, accessible and future-focused, supporting business objectives while maintaining alignment with AA standards. As a key collaborator, you will work closely with Regional Heads of Discovery, and Discovery Managers to drive the development and effective application of the SHEC Management System, while role modelling leadership behaviours that strengthen a resilient and positive SHEC culture across the organisation.
Core Responsibilities (amongst others):
Coordinate SHEC inputs into annual and multi-year DG plans and budget.
Establish and maintain a model for regular performance reviews against plan and budget.
Lead the design and maintenance of a DG SHEC communications and engagement approach.
Lead the SHEC Management System integration associated with business acquisitions, mergers and organisational change initiatives. Coordinate the assessment, harmonisation and integration of SHEC requirements, processes, standards, tools and reporting frameworks to achieve a unified Exploration SHEC Management System while retaining critical business controls and supporting effective change management.
Representing DG at the Group level to lead the effective design and implementation of an automated and accessible ‘Onboarding and Training’ platform (LMS) for DG. Maintain a fit for purpose and role-based training matrix and training content.
Represent DG at the Group level to influence the design and rollout of the LFI process. Lead implementation of LFI methodology for DG – coach country teams to build a ‘no repeats’ culture.
Lead or participate in incident investigations applying the Learning From Incidents (LFI) methodology; coach and mentor country teams in the LFI methodology and help ensure “no repeats”.
Collaborate with the Principal Safety/Health, and Communities/Environment to implement streamlined and integrated risk management across DG in-line with Operational Risk Management (ORM); coach and mentor country teams in implementation of ORM and application of risk assessment methodologies.
Lead the implementation and maintenance of the DG SHEC Management System in line with AA standards, SHE Way and Social Way requirements, through interactions with Group SHE.
Lead design and implementation of digital platforms that enable integration, automation and improved accessibility of SHEC systems - ISOmetrix, iForms, AGORA, SharePoint, ORM
An undergraduate qualification (Bachelors/Honours degree or equivalent) in a SHEC-related relevant discipline
Project management qualification in a relevant methodology
Understanding of operational processes, competing priorities and key challenges/barriers to achieving SHEC outcomes
SHEC management system design and governance, Integration of SHEC systems
Knowledge of conformance and assurance processes. Understanding of ISO management system structures is desirable
Strong digital acumen, with the ability to leverage technology, digital platforms and data-driven insights to enhance SHEC management systems, improve user experience and drive continuous improvement.
Knowledge of exploration processes, and/or deep knowledge of the mining industry
Fluent in English (Spanish and/or Portuguese desirable)
A demonstrated thought leader and capability builder, considered an external expert in the SHEC field.
Track record of leading ideas generation; translating these into practical initiatives to be implemented and demonstration of successful execution and delivery.
