Principal Instrumentation Engineer

• Location: Portland, Victoria
• Full time site-based role
• 12-month contract with likelihood of extension
• Customer: Alcoa

The role

• Define project scopes and manage scope changes in line with project change management processes.
• Prepare and review engineering documentation, including datasheets, scopes of work, work instructions, design inputs, drawings, specifications, calculations and reports.
• Participate in meetings, prepare progress reports and follow quality procedures, including technical deliverable checks.
• Provide engineering support through procurement, construction and commissioning, including requisitions and technical bid evaluations.
• Estimate, monitor and control engineering hours against approved budgets.
• Apply appropriate risk and HSE considerations across all design activities.
• Provide technical guidance, supervision and peer review support to discipline and project teams.
• Build strong working relationships with Worley, clients and stakeholders, resolving requirement discrepancies proactively.
• Identify issues, develop practical solutions and seek support when required.
• Maintain current knowledge of discipline developments and technical innovations.

Candidate Criteria

• A recognised engineering degree in the relevant discipline or equivalent with eligibility for membership with Engineers Australia.
• Substantial technical and practical Brownfields experience in the relevant discipline in the same or similar industry, including experience in multi-disciplinary projects and teams.
• Mining/Minerals industry experience.
• Extensive experience in managing diverse teams across multiple locations to deliver project outcomes, including a keen interest in managing and coaching individuals to develop a high performing team.
• Strong experience in client, inter-discipline and construction interface management.
• Field experience, especially with Brownfield installations, highly desirable.
