The Training Design and Development team is seeking a passionate and experienced professional to step into the role of Principal Instructional Design Adviser If you have a strong experience in learning and development and thrive in leading innovative projects, this is your opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

As a Principal Instructional Design Adviser, you will lead the team in the design and development of innovative, flexible, and effective learning and development solutions. This role focuses on change leadership, project management, and instructional design expertise to support our business objectives and strategies, while uplifting the teams capability in digital learning design and emerging learning technologies


You can expect some of the responsibilities of the role to include:

  • Lead a team of instructional designers in developing high-quality learning solutions that align with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive change leadership by influencing the adoption of efficient learning practices and alternative learning solution designs (e.g., eLearning, blended learning, multimedia).
  • Uplift team capability in digital learning design and introduce innovative technologies to enhance learner engagement.
  • Stand up and manage multiple projects, ensuring quality outputs are delivered within agreed timeframes and scope.
  • Provide expert advice and input to stakeholders, fostering the development of flexible and efficient learning delivery practices.
  • Review and analyse instructional design concepts, supporting the development of detailed work schedules.
  • Plan and evaluate established learning solutions to ensure they meet business and legislative requirements.
  • Actively participate in specialist tasks and projects related to People, Safety, and Sustainability.


This Role Will Be Ideal for People Who:

Essential:

  • Have experience in designing, developing and implementing a wide range of learning solutions across multiple modalities
  • Have experience in leading teams through change and building high-performing teams.
  • Possess strong change and project management skills and has experience implementing innovative ways of working into existing teams
  • Have strong planning and organisational skills
  • Is an excellent decision maker with strong problem-solving skills that focuses on continuous improvement
  • Have strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Have a strong understanding of adult learning principles and contemporary learning theories
  • Are proficient in e-learning authoring tools, in particular Articulate 360
  • Have experience uplifting teams’ capability in digital learning design and introducing emerging technologies (e.g., AI in learning, VR/AR, gamification, adaptive learning).

Desired:

  • Knowledge of best practices in adult and vocational learning principles, competency-based training frameworks, and VET Quality Framework (AQF).
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards and inclusive design
  • Awareness of current and emerging trends in learning technology
