GENERAL FUNCTION:

The Principal Information Security Engineer is responsible for defining, architecting, and supporting enterprise security tools in partnership with Information Security and IT teams. This role plays a key part in advancing Zero Trust strategies and strengthening perimeter and endpoint detection and prevention capabilities across both data center and cloud environments.

Success in this role requires staying current on emerging threats and technologies, identifying gaps in the security landscape, and selecting solutions that reduce risk to acceptable levels. The engineer must understand how existing and new technologies fit together, assess vendor offerings against defined requirements, and ensure seamless integration into the broader security ecosystem. From vendor selection to implementation, this role drives the full lifecycle of security technology adoption.

The role is also responsible for defining the security architecture, and control framework for AI-enabled systems and autonomous agents. This includes establishing enterprise architectural patterns and standards for prompt-layer protections, tool-execution guardrails, agent identity, observability, and monitoring of agent planning and tool usage. The engineer will evaluate emerging AI security technologies, define security requirements and reference architectures, to ensure AI capabilities align with Zero Trust principles and enterprise security objectives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Mentor more junior members of the team.
  • Contribute to and enhance the bank's perimeter security program.
  • Defines security requirements for new technology implementations and assesses security solutions against those requirements along with effective integration within the broader ecosystem.
  • Design and implementation of selected technologies
  • Serve as a security consultant and architect on projects.
  • Participate in conducting security research and threat modeling, make recommendations to the IS/IT teams and oversee their implementation.
  • Assist in conducting risk assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of existing controls and determine the impact of proposed changes to business processes, applications, and systems.
  • Enhance Zero Trust (ZT) strategy and architectural patterns
  • Seeking and maintaining knowledge (cross/up skill) of current and upcoming IT security technologies.
  • Awareness of latest and common security threats and technology trends.
  • Knowledge of virtualization and containerization technologies.​
  • Define and maintain security architecture, governance standards, and reference patterns for AI-enabled applications, autonomous agents, and emerging AI technologies.
  • Establish enterprise requirements for AI security controls, including agent identity, prompt-layer protections, tool-execution guardrails, observability, and risk management capabilities.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Information Systems or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Industry Standard Certifications such as, but not limited to: SANS certifications, ISC2 CISSP, and AWS are preferred.
  • Must be able to communicate ideas both verbally and in writing to management, business and IT sponsors, and technical resources in language that is appropriate for each group.
  • Eight+ years of IT work experience relevant to the position, including at least six years in a hands-on information security engineering or analyst position.
  • Experience working with and supporting Cloud, Linux and Windows systems.
  • Solid conceptual understanding of distributed computing principles.
  • Working knowledge of application and data security concepts, best practices, and common vulnerabilities.
  • Financial industry experience is a plus.
  • Excellent ability to diagnose and troubleshoot accessibility issues.

Total Base Pay Range 96,500.00 - 207,500.00 USD Annual
