Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid - 3 days/week)


We are looking for a Principal Full-Stack Software Engineer to lead the our internal engineering platform, standards framework, and developer enablement ecosystem used across the Software Engineering Chapter.This role combines platform engineering, architecture, and developer experience leadership. You will design and maintain reusable engineering templates, define engineering guardrails,
and lead the Center for Enablement team responsible for enabling product engineering pods. Your work will directly improve developer productivity, engineering quality, and delivery performance across the organization.

What's on the menu?

Engineering Platform

  • Develop and evolve quickstart templates and shared components
  • Define and maintain engineering standards, guardrails, and best practices
  • Improve developer onboarding and developer experience
  • Maintain technical documentation, playbooks, and platform patterns

Engineering Productivity

  • Support and evolve the Internal Developer Portal
  • Implement and maintain static code analysis and quality gates (SonarCloud)
  • Monitor engineering metrics (LinearB) to identify systemic improvement opportunities
  • Improve CI/CD workflows and engineering practices across teams

Architecture & Standards

  • Define best practices for API design, system architecture, and integration patterns
  • Maintain consistent engineering patterns across services and applications
  • Collaborate with engineering leadership on platform strategy

Leadership

  • Lead the Center for Enablement engineering team
  • Define roadmap and priorities for the software engineering platform
  • Mentor engineers and promote adoption of engineering standards
  • Partner with product teams

  • 7+ years of experience in software engineering, platform engineering, or architecture
  • Strong hands-on experience with: Python (FastAPI), JavaScript / TypeScript (ReactJS), API architecture and integration patterns, Database design, SQL, and schema management
  • Experience working with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud)
  • Strong understanding of modern software architecture and engineering practices
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills
  • Experience building internal developer platforms or shared engineering tooling preferred
  • Experience with Backstage or similar developer portals preferred
  • Experience with engineering productivity tools (SonarCloud, LinearB, Datadog, etc.) preferred
  • Experience leading platform / enablement teams preferred

New Hire Base Salary Range:

$146,300.00 - $182,900.00

Bonus: This position is eligible for a performance-based bonus as provided by the plan terms and governing documents.

The compensation offered will take into account internal equity and may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors
