As a Principal Finance Business Analyst, you will provide strategic leadership and direction for initiatives across the finance function of our energy trading business. You will be accountable for driving the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of finance processes, systems, and data to enhance operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and decision-making capabilities. This role requires significant experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, with the ability to lead and optimize a range of connected platforms to support the overall organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understand and monitor end-to-end finance and accounting processes.

  • Identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and automation opportunities across all finance-related processes and systems.

  • Drive Workday break-fixes, integrations, improvements, and upgrades for the finance team.

  • Develop short-term and long-term plans for Workday and related finance systems, including defining strong intake and governance practices.

  • Advance the data platform and strategy across the enterprise with a focus on data governance.

  • Drive and foster the adoption of AI‑powered tools across all finance functions.

  • Lead change management efforts, including training, regular communications, and stakeholder management.

  • Act as a liaison between finance users and technical teams to ensure business needs are met for all enterprise initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, information systems, or related field.

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in finance/accounting or adjacent roles, focusing on process improvement, systems optimization, or finance transformation.

  • Previous experience supporting finance facing modules of an ERP system.

  • Expertise with strategic IT implementation and transformation projects, including gathering business requirements and driving end-to-end delivery in a fast-paced, technically complex environment.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to interact effectively with business users, IT teams, and senior management.

  • Strong incident, problem, and change management experience.

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities and workstreams.

  • Experience with automation tools and analytics platforms.

  • Familiarity with standard accounting practices.

  • Project management certification or Agile/Scrum experience, highly preferred.

  • Experience in energy trading or commodities markets, preferred.

  • Experience with shared services or global business services models, preferred.
