Join our HSE team in Perth as a Principal Environmental Engineer. In this permanent role, you'll provide environmental engineering leadership across operations and projects, helping manage environmental risk, support regulatory compliance and deliver sustainable business outcomes. Occasional travel to onshore and offshore facilities will be required.

About the role

Reporting to the Manager Environment, you'll act as the environmental engineering subject matter expert across INPEX Australia, providing specialist advice and support to both operations and development activities.

Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, contractors and senior stakeholders, you'll support environmental performance across the asset lifecycle, helping manage environmental risk, meet regulatory requirements and deliver sustainable business outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the environmental engineering subject matter expert for INPEX Australia.
• Provide technical advice and support across operations, projects and business initiatives.
• Review design and operational changes to assess environmental impacts, risks and compliance obligations.
• Lead environmental engineering studies, assessments and technical work programs.
• Manage environmental engineering contractors, consultants and specialist service providers.
• Support environmental risk management, regulatory compliance and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate across the business to promote best-practice environmental engineering outcomes.

You could be a great fit for this role if you have:

• Environmental engineering experience within oil and gas, energy, resources or other complex industrial environments.
• Knowledge of Australian environmental regulatory frameworks and environmental risk management principles.
• Experience providing technical advice and influencing environmental outcomes in operational and/or project environments.
• Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and relationship-building skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• A collaborative, proactive and solutions-focused approach.

Helpful for success in this role

• Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience applying environmental engineering expertise within complex operational and project environments.
• Knowledge of Australian environmental regulatory frameworks and environmental risk management principles.
• Experience leading technical studies, assessments and environmental programs.
• Experience managing consultants, contractors and key stakeholders.
