Job Description

Healthcare’s helping hand.

CHG shook things up in 1979 by inventing the locum tenens staffing model. We connect doctors with patients who need their care. As the largest physician staffing firm in America, our providers treat millions of patients each year.

Our industry is growing and demand is high. This means you’ll have plenty of opportunities to grow and develop in your career. Keeping healthcare healthy can be as fun as it is rewarding

CHG Healthcare's Enterprise Architecture practice is looking for a Principal Enterprise Architect, Business Architecture to join our growing EA team. The Enterprise Architecture team sets the standards, frameworks, and architectural direction that guides how CHG's technology portfolio evolves, enabling our staffing brands to operate with greater alignment, efficiency, and strategic clarity. As the Principal Enterprise Architect, Business Architecture, you will own CHG's business architecture domain, translating strategic intent into capability models, value stream maps, and domain frameworks that connect business direction to technology investment, including helping CHG identify and win with AI. This role reports to the VP, Head of Enterprise Architecture.

Responsibilities

  • Own and maintain CHG's business architecture artifacts, including capability models, value stream maps, and domain decompositions, keeping them current as living references that reflect both the current and target operating states.

  • Identify where AI and machine learning create high-value capability leverage across CHG's business domains and define the architectural patterns that enable those outcomes.

  • Create Target State Architectures and roadmaps for business domains and establish governance to ensure achievement of business goals.

  • Partner with business and product leaders across CHGs business teams to translate strategic intent into structured architecture artifacts.

  • Lead architecture reviews for significant initiatives, providing authoritative guidance on capability fit, process impact, and domain boundaries.

  • Drive capability gap and redundancy analysis across CHG's brand portfolio, producing clear business cases for platform consolidation and investment prioritization.

Qualifications

  • Deep expertise in business architecture methods including capability modeling, value stream mapping, and domain decomposition, with hands-on artifact delivery rather than advisory exposure alone.
  • Demonstrate competency in Information Security, Cloud, Data and Integration Architecture disciplines. Experience with integrating with SaaS solutions applying secure data and integration patterns and standards.
  • Support vendor evaluation efforts and perform research and provide guidance on competitive advantages
  • Practical understanding of AI and machine learning concepts as they apply to business capability design, including AI use case identification and AI-enabled process design.
  • Demonstrated ability to own a domain, drive standards adoption, and influence without direct authority in a matrixed, multi-brand organization.
  • Strong facilitation skills with the ability to lead workshops and build alignment among diverse, senior stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in architecture modeling tools such as LeanIX, Ardoq, or Sparx EA, and familiarity with frameworks such as TOGAF or ArchiMate.

Education & Experience

  • 15+ or more years of experience in business architecture, enterprise architecture, or a closely related strategy and technology discipline is required.
  • Masters or bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or a related field is required, or equivalent professional experience.

Preferred

  • Experience designing or governing AI-enabled business capabilities in a production enterprise environment.

  • Familiarity with AI governance frameworks and responsible AI principles.

  • Experience in healthcare, healthcare staffing, or a similarly regulated industry

  • Experience contributing to an EA practice buildout from early foundation stages through to steady-state operation.
