Westpac Institutional Bank Technology supports the Financial Markets business through the delivery, operation, and ongoing enhancement of critical trading, risk, post-trade, regulatory, and data platforms. The Murex platform is a core Financial Markets capability supporting Front-to-Back trade processing, operational control, risk management, financial reporting, and regulatory outcomes across institutional markets products


What’s the Role:



Lead the design, delivery and service ownership of Murex front-to-back solutions across Carbon and Commodities, providing senior technical leadership to ensure platforms are scalable, resilient, well-controlled and aligned to business objectives. Partner with business and technology stakeholders to translate complex regulatory, operational and market requirements into high-quality, production-ready solutions that support Financial Markets outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the end-to-end design, development and delivery of Murex front-to-back solutions, supporting implementation and production readiness across Financial Markets.
  • Act as the Service Owner for Murex capability, driving platform stability, resilience, governance and alignment to business objectives.
  • Provide deep expertise across trade lifecycle management, STP processing, Front Office workflows and downstream system integrations.
  • Partner with Risk, Treasury, Finance, Operations and Technology teams to deliver new products, regulatory initiatives, platform upgrades and strategic change programs.
  • Drive continuous improvement through automation, testing uplift, environment optimisation, defect resolution and production support excellence.
  • Mentor engineers and analysts while managing vendor relationships, delivery dependencies and ensuring high-quality, scalable solutions.

What do I need?

  • Extensive experience delivering Murex solutions within Financial Markets, with deep expertise across Front Office, trade lifecycle management, STP and front-to-back processing.
  • Strong understanding of rates, credit, FX, commodities, derivatives and treasury products, with experience supporting complex trading environments.
  • Proven capability in Murex solution design, implementation, release governance, production readiness and service ownership across critical platforms.
  • Technical expertise across MxML, Datamart, market data, static data, reporting, reconciliation, downstream integrations and production support, with knowledge of SQL, automation and CI/CD highly regarded.
  • Strong stakeholder management and leadership skills, with the ability to influence business, technology, risk, operations and vendor teams while driving service resilience and continuous improvement.
  • Commitment to quality, control and operational excellence, ensuring stable, scalable solutions through effective risk management, governance, automation and knowledge-sharing practices.
