We are seeking an experienced Principal Systems Engineer to join our CNS Traffic Surveillance engineering team. In this role, you'll lead the development, integration, verification, and certification of complex avionics systems that support mission-critical surveillance products.
You'll collaborate with systems architects, software engineers, certification specialists, and cross-functional teams throughout the entire product lifecycle—from customer requirements through system validation and certification—while driving technical excellence across the organization.
Lead the decomposition of customer requirements into system, subsystem, and component-level requirements.
Provide technical leadership to a team of Systems Engineers developing complex Traffic Surveillance solutions.
Develop and verify DAL B compliant avionics systems within the CNS domain.
Define system architectures, interfaces, and verification strategies for advanced surveillance products.
Develop tools and automation to improve systems engineering and verification efficiency.
Create system integration and verification strategies, including test plans, procedures, execution, and comprehensive test reports.
Produce certification artifacts and support regulatory compliance activities in accordance with aerospace standards.
Collaborate with software architects and engineering teams to deliver scalable, reliable, and sustainable system solutions.
Drive engineering process improvements, technical roadmaps, and organizational capability development.
Mentor engineers and contribute to talent development, performance management, and technical excellence initiatives.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electronics, Computer Engineering, or a related STEM discipline.
10+ years of experience in avionics systems engineering.
8+ years of experience in systems development across the complete Systems Development Lifecycle (SDLC), including requirements development, architecture, design, implementation, integration, validation, and verification.
8+ years of experience capturing and managing system requirements using Jama and/or IBM DOORS
7+ years of experience developing system architectures, Interface Control Documents (ICDs), functional decomposition, and system design documentation.
5+ years of experience developing integration, verification, and validation strategies for safety-critical avionics systems.
5+ years of experience working with avionics communication protocols, including AFDX, ARINC 429, ARINC 615/615A, and Ethernet
5+ years of experience applying aerospace development guidelines, including ARP4754A/B and ARP4761
3+ years of certification experience supporting FAA, certification authorities, or internal certification organizations.
5+ years of experience working in Agile development environments using tools such as JIRA and Confluence
3+ years of experience developing automation tools using Python
Experience with engineering tools including Jama, DOORS, Git, Subversion, and RapiTest
Experience integrating hardware and software within complex avionics platforms.
Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable:
5+ years of experience with Traffic Surveillance products, including Transponder, TCAS, ADS-B In/Out, and Traffic Applications.
3+ years of experience supporting SOI audits, certification reviews, and compliance evidence preparation.
Working knowledge of RTCA DO-178, DO-160, DO-254, and DO-297
5+ years of experience performing system integration and verification testing.
Experience with Minimum Operational Performance Standards (MOPS) for avionics systems.
Understanding of avionics domains including Communication, Navigation & Surveillance (CNS), Flight Management Systems (FMS), Flight Control Systems (FCS), and Cockpit Displays

This position is designated as a Hybrid role, offering a combination of onsite and remote work based on business needs.
Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with 10+ years of relevant professional experience; or
Master's degree in a related field with 8+ years of relevant professional experience; or
Ph.D. in a related field with 6+ years of relevant professional experience.
Success in this role requires advanced expertise in avionics systems engineering, safety-critical system development, requirements management, verification, certification, and cross-functional technical leadership.
