Molex ICMM is seeking an experienced Principal Engineer, Product Design Engineering with a proven track record in high-speed connector and cable assembly design. The successful candidate will possess deep expertise in product design, failure analysis, and root cause investigation, supported by strong command of engineering methodologies including FMEA, DOE, GD&T, tolerance analysis, and simulation-driven design.
This role serves as a key technical leader within the organization, providing guidance on critical product designs, coaching engineering teams on best design practices, and leading complex technical problem-solving activities. The Principal Engineer will play a pivotal role in supporting strategic customer engagements, driving product innovation, and influencing next-generation interconnect solutions through advanced technical expertise and thought leadership.

What You Will Do
· Review and approve major product design releases, ensuring compliance with customer requirements, engineering standards, manufacturability objectives, reliability expectations, and product lifecycle considerations.
· Serve as a recognized technical authority within the organization by providing expert guidance on connector and cable assembly design, engineering fundamentals, and product development best practices.
· Coach and mentor product design engineers in the effective use of engineering methodologies and design tools, including GD&T, tolerance analysis, NUDD, FMEA, DOE, and FEA/SI simulation techniques.
· Lead or support critical product failure investigations and root cause analyses, driving effective containment actions, corrective actions, and long-term preventive solutions.
· Act as the engineering focal point for strategic customers when addressing complex technical challenges, product performance concerns, and design-related escalations.
· Contribute to next-generation product development initiatives by leading advanced design activities, evaluating emerging technologies, and providing critical technical recommendations that improve product competitiveness and customer value.
· Act as a trusted technical consultant to the management team, providing expert recommendations for critical business, product, technology, and customer decisions.
· Drive innovation through invention disclosures, patents, technology roadmaps, improved design methodologies, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
· Bachelor's degree or above in Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
· Minimum 10 years of product design experience in electronic connectors, cable assemblies, or related interconnect products.
· Demonstrated success in both product innovation and commercialization, with proven experience delivering products from concept through qualification and production release.
· Strong knowledge of product development processes, engineering fundamentals, and design tools, including risk assessment, design validation, FMEA, DOE, GD&T, tolerance analysis, and simulation-driven design methodologies.
· In-depth understanding of connector and cable assembly design, materials, manufacturing processes, assembly methods, design-for-manufacturability principles, and supplier engagement.
· Strong knowledge of qualification requirements, reliability methods, and validation testing for connector and cable assembly products.
· Demonstrated expertise in failure analysis, root cause investigation, and development of corrective and preventive actions for complex technical issues.
· Fluent English communication skills, including the ability to independently prepare and deliver technical and business presentations to senior management, customers, and cross-functional leadership teams.
· Strong leadership, influencing, and collaboration skills, with the ability to guide technical decisions across global and cross-functional teams.
What Will Put You Ahead
· Strong knowledge of server, storage, AI, and high-performance computing (HPC) system architectures and associated interconnect applications.
· Experience working directly with hyperscale data center customers and server platform providers.
· History of patent generation, invention disclosures, or significant technology innovations in the interconnect industry.
· Black Belt, Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) certification.
