Huawei's Ohm Research Center (Nuremberg) is responsible for Advanced Technology Research, Architecture Evolution Design and Strategic Technology Planning.

The Huawei Automotive Electric Control Technology Laboratorywill play an important role in the Huawei Digital Power Business Unit in the advanced electric drive control, architectural development, design and strategic engineering of automotive applications such as drivetrain, DC-AC inverter and fusion driving component, advanced AI/cloud technology, etc. As an employee you will be part of the HUAWEI Automotive R&D Competence Center in Nuremberg.

Principal Engineer – Next-Generation Active Chassis Actuators (m/f/d)

Your mission

As the lead innovator for our next-generation active chassis actuators, you will bridge the gap between frontier research and large-scale industrialization. You will hold end-to-end accountability for product development—from inaugural electromagnetic and mechanical concepts to high-fidelity thermal optimization and final SOP. We are seeking a visionary expert who masters the underlying physics and possesses the strategic acumen to navigate the global competitive landscape and define the technology roadmaps that will disrupt the automotive industry.

• Strategic Technical Insight: Drive comprehensive global benchmarking of advanced active chassis technologies. Systematically monitor industry megatrends, emerging material sciences, and competitor patent portfolios to secure and maintain a decisive technological edge.

• Technology Roadmap Ownership: Orchestrate the definition and execution of long-term technical roadmaps for active actuators, ensuring R&D initiatives are perfectly synchronized with next-generation vehicle architectures.

• Frontier Technical Design: Spearhead the architectural innovation of next-gen actuators. Lead high-level electromagnetic, structural, and thermal co-simulations to achieve industry-leading performance density.

• Full-Lifecycle Development Mastery: Navigate the complete development journey from "0-1" conceptualization through to Start of Production (SOP), ensuring all rigorous technical milestones and quality gates are surpassed.

• Advanced Prototyping & Validation: Oversee the hands-on prototyping process and drive the successful execution of complex trial productions, environmental stress tests, and performance validation phases.

Your areas of expertise

• Academic Excellence: Master’s Degree or Ph.D. (strongly preferred) in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Automotive Engineering.

• Industrial Track Record: A minimum of 3–5+ years in the automotive sector, with a proven history of spearheading new technologies that have successfully transitioned into high-volume production (SOP).

• Strategic & Analytical Acumen: Demonstrated capability to synthesize complex global technology trends into actionable, high-impact R&D strategies.

• Multi-Physics Simulation Mastery: Expert proficiency in multi-domain simulation (Electromagnetic, Structural, Thermal, and Dynamics) using corresponding tools.

• Domain Depth: Exhaustive knowledge of advanced electromagnetic materials, high-precision mechanical tolerances, and sophisticated thermal management solutions for power-dense systems.

• Quality & Compliance: Robust understanding of automotive quality frameworks, specifically IATF 16949, APQP, and VDA 6.3

• Exceptional Leadership: Proven ability to mentor cross-functional engineering teams and navigate the complexities of high-stakes, multi-disciplinary projects in a global environment.
