Westpac Institutional Bank Technology supports the Financial Markets business through the delivery, operation, and ongoing enhancement of critical trading, risk, post-trade, regulatory, and data platforms. The Murex platform is a core Financial Markets capability supporting Front-to-Back trade processing, operational control, risk management, financial reporting, and regulatory outcomes across institutional markets products


What’s the Role:



The Principal Murex Integration and Interfacing System Specialist Engineer is responsible for leading the design, configuration, delivery, and operational readiness of integration and interfacing solutions across the Murex platform. The role provides senior functional and technical expertise across Murex interfaces, MxML Exchange, FpML/FMDM transformation, upstream and downstream data flows, STP processing, batch and real-time integration, exception management, reconciliation, controls, and production support. The position is accountable for ensuring integration solutions are scalable, resilient, supportable, compliant, and aligned to business priorities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, delivery and support of complex Murex integration and interface solutions across Front, Middle and Back Office functions.
  • Translate business, operational, regulatory and data requirements into scalable integration specifications, mapping artefacts and implementation plans.
  • Provide expertise across Murex MxML Exchange, FpML/FMDM transformations, real-time and batch interfaces, and enterprise data flows.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex integration issues including STP breaks, data quality challenges, reconciliation discrepancies and production incidents.
  • Engage with senior business and technology stakeholders to communicate integration strategies, risks, dependencies and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with Financial Markets, Risk, Operations, Finance, Compliance and Engineering teams while mentoring developers, analysts and support teams.

What do I need?

  • Extensive experience delivering Murex integration and STP solutions within complex Financial Markets and Front-to-Back trading environments.
  • Deep expertise across Murex integration capabilities including MxML Exchange, FpML/FMDM, workflows, interface routing, monitoring, transformation and operational controls.
  • Strong understanding of trade lifecycle processes, market data, static data, downstream integrations and risk, finance and reporting systems.
  • Proven track record delivering integration initiatives across new products, regulatory programmes, platform upgrades, data transformations and operational improvement projects.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills, with experience in root cause analysis, production support, SQL, XML, automation, interface monitoring and resolving complex integration issues.
  • Collaborative stakeholder manager with experience working across business, technology, risk and compliance teams, driving delivery in fast-paced Agile banking environments.
