Job Description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Principal Engineer, Enterprise Architecture, Mergers & Acquisitions based in India.

This is a senior architecture opportunity focused on shaping enterprise technology strategies across complex M&A and business transformation programs.
You will assess application, integration, infrastructure, and data landscapes across acquiring and acquired organizations.
The role combines enterprise architecture leadership with hands-on solution and integration architecture expertise.
You will define target-state architectures, rationalization strategies, and pragmatic roadmaps that support successful integration.
Your work will influence critical decisions around consolidation, migration, coexistence, modernization, and technology retirement.
You will collaborate with executives, business leaders, technology teams, cybersecurity specialists, and external stakeholders across global programs.
This role is ideal for an experienced architect who can balance strategic thinking, governance, and practical execution in fast-moving M&A environments.

Accountabilities:

    • Lead Enterprise Architecture activities across M&A integration, enterprise transformation, and application consolidation programs.
    • Assess current-state business applications, technology inventories, integrations, infrastructure, and data landscapes across acquired organizations.
    • Define target-state enterprise architectures aligned with business strategy, technology standards, and integration objectives.
    • Develop strategic integration roadmaps covering Day 1 readiness, TSA Exit, and long-term integration activities.
    • Conduct application portfolio assessments to identify consolidation, migration, coexistence, modernization, and retirement opportunities.
    • Perform business capability mapping to identify technology gaps, overlaps, dependencies, and integration priorities.
    • Define integration strategies across SaaS, cloud, and on-premises environments.
    • Design and evaluate integration patterns involving APIs, middleware, event-driven architectures, file-based integrations, and other enterprise integration approaches.
    • Facilitate architecture workshops with business, technology, and executive stakeholders across acquiring and acquired organizations.
    • Collaborate with cybersecurity, infrastructure, data, and business teams to develop secure and scalable integrated enterprise solutions.
    • Review solution architectures and provide governance to ensure alignment with enterprise standards and strategic direction.
    • Create and maintain executive-ready architecture deliverables, including application portfolios, capability maps, technology landscapes, integration diagrams, roadmaps, and Architecture Decision Records.
    • Maintain Enterprise Architecture repositories and ensure architecture information remains accurate, current, and actionable.
    • Identify architectural risks, technical debt, dependencies, and operational impacts throughout integration programs.
    • Provide architectural guidance to implementation teams and support successful execution from strategy through delivery.
    • Partner with business leaders, project teams, and external stakeholders to resolve complex architecture challenges and drive integration outcomes.
    • Establish and promote architecture best practices while balancing long-term strategic objectives with pragmatic delivery requirements.
    • Requirements

      • 8–15 years of total professional experience, including 2–5 years in Enterprise Architecture and 5–10 years in Solution or Application Architecture.
      • Strong hands-on experience in Enterprise Architecture, Integration Architecture, and M&A integration programs.
      • Proven experience supporting mergers and acquisitions, application consolidation, technology modernization, and business transformation initiatives.
      • Demonstrated ability to assess complex application landscapes, technology inventories, integrations, infrastructure, and data environments.
      • Strong experience defining target-state architectures, integration roadmaps, application rationalization strategies, and technology transformation plans.
      • Deep understanding of enterprise application ecosystems, including ERP, CRM, HR, PLM, collaboration, and integration platforms.
      • Experience architecting solutions across SaaS, cloud, and on-premises environments.
      • Strong knowledge of integration architecture, APIs, event-driven architecture, middleware, file-based integrations, and enterprise integration patterns.
      • Experience supporting Day 1 integration, TSA Exit, and long-term integration planning.
      • Hands-on experience producing executive-level architecture artifacts, including capability maps, application portfolios, technology landscapes, roadmaps, and ADRs.
      • Experience with Enterprise Architecture repositories such as Ardoq, LeanIX, BizDesign, or comparable platforms.
      • Familiarity with Enterprise Architecture frameworks such as TOGAF is preferred.
      • Exposure to Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud environments is an advantage.
      • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
      • Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, governance, and stakeholder-management skills.
      • Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex architecture decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
      • Comfortable facilitating workshops and influencing senior business and technology leaders.
      • Willingness to work UK/EU business hours, with occasional flexibility to support global stakeholders and travel for workshops.
